Saw Blackpool on the news re Hen Parties, not heard much from Tom "Steeplejerk" , could he be moonlighting as a male stripper ?

Perhaps it was something to do with an incinerator and the strange shape was to ensure condensation of nasties within the chimney?

As for Tom and male strippers, which is highest paid, a steeplejack or a male stripper?

Remember the pics of the jacks on Swabs chimney in 1923? John Burnison has found more information:

Middleton Guardian, RHODES AUGUST 11, 1923.
After for many weeks witnessing thrills several times daily while the steeplejacks have been engaged in the gigantic and dangerous task of re-building 50 feet of the big chimney, this weekend will not only see the completion of the work, but also the removal of all traces of it in the shape of the long ladders up two sides and all the needed scaffolding. On Wednesday evening we saw the last plank of the scaffolding lowered to earth and the men were busy with the last duty of fixing the lightning conductor; the ladder on one side of the chimney had already been taken down. The work throughout seems to have been wonderfully carried out, and it is gratifying to learn that no one has been hurt while it has been in progress.

It looks as though the work wasn't extension as I always supposed but rebuilding.

Peter never propped and burned, he cut them away until they fell. He never had a problem, the bloke knew his trade.
