I watched the Panorama programme on Missing Children. Terrible that so little can be done and also that budget cuts are hamstringing the police.

If you are allergic to s[port as I am the last fortnight has been a disaster as far as good TV is concerned. However, I watch TV for entertainment and Youtube makes a very acceptable substitute! I've been watching all sorts and have learned a lot about Russian logging and modern engineering.

I started to watch the new BBC drama 'One of us' last night but gave up on it very quickly. Hard to understand the plot and a succession of dire images. Not for me thank you!

I bumped into this lady last night on the BBC Proms programme. Gabrielo Montera

Wow - she is a force of nature!

I'm not a big fan of classical music, but she's great. I kept worrying that her hair was going to get in her eyes at a crucial moment. One more Kirbygrip would have been good.

If you want to have an interesting hour, dial Saratoga Tree Services in on Youtube and watch some fascinating footage of dealing with trees that are extremely dangerous and threatening to destroy houses.

There's not a lot about at the moment as far as I am concerned. However, I enjoyed the programme on Sue Townsend last night. Not only a good writer but a sound woman as well!

Comrade, I watched the programme afterwards - Julie Walters interviewing Willy Russell. Funny and entertaining just like his plays. Nolic

I agree. I was once a guest on a Russell Harty talk show for Radio Lancashire and he and Victoria Wood were on the same panel. Fascinating and entertaining.....

We enjoyed watching a recording of the documentary `Star Men' last night:
"Four British astronomers in their 70s reunite for a 50th anniversary trek in this deceptive documentary. What begins as a nostalgic and impeccably polite road trip across America’s South West coalesces into something more profound: a meditation on life, the universe and everything. There is banter about parochial concerns such as class and career, and on the other hand explanations of quasars and irregular blue galaxies. It’s a powerful juxtaposition...."

I watched it too Stanley, looking at the trailer for the next episode it looks like they are all going to be to complete stories based on individual characters from the overall plot line. A nice bit of paranoia from the bloke last night with a twist to the tale.

I agree, a better plot than many of the 'dramas' we have seen lately. I shall watch the next one.
I went back a day and watched the programme on Aberfan. 50 years ago tomorrow..... I have remembered it every year.

I watched that as well Stanley the wriggling of the Coal Board and government of the day trying to shift blame and using part of the disaster fund to pay for the clear up. It beggars belief that the office that was in charge of the tips did not have reference to an OS map which led them to tipping slag on top of active water courses. I remember it well, I was at school myself at the time and the massive loss of life really hit home. I didn't learn the back story until much later though as the truth was sidestepped for so long, a tragedy and injustice in many more ways than the obvious.

Regarding the OS, the Government are contemplating privatising it. There is a 38degrees petition to the Secretary of State here. Should have really gone in Politics but it's relevant here:

Me too. The British Geological Survey (BGS) has been cutting back on its mapping which is worrying geologists and others who use them. It's a shame because they have a worldwide reputation. Just take a look at everything they do: BGS

I watched Film4 who were showing "The Imitation Game". We saw it at the pictures when it first came out. I reviewed it at the time here: The Imitation Game

Watching it a second time and after reading a bit more about some of the protagonists I think they over egged the pudding somewhat with his relationship with Joan Clarke, (played at bit too glam by Keira Knightley), I didn't pick up on this when I watched it the first time. Still a good watch though.
