Whats the alternative use of Town Centres ?

And the question

Will you consider using the town centres more , is a bit daft , as doesnt have a comparator of how often one is 'using' the town centre ( at what time , for what purpose ) in the first place

I agree,

I possibly wouldn't have started from the point at which this committee did.

I have been to all their meetings, and I will acknowledge that I have been impressed with the Officer Kath Heywood but she is really only doing the bidding of the panel whilst also trying to influence the direction.

The many people that I talked to yesterday as I went around the town seemed actually quite enthusiastic about it

The standard of up keep of the toilets and the car park will hopefully be mentioned, but the best suggestion that I was given was the setting up of a "focus group" without cllrs present, but obviously a council officier to actually feedback what people wanted; that could meet on a regular basis and that should mean that one party can not push a particular agenda and over whelm the rest. Quite a bit of hostility too

for the meeting next Tuesday
It is anticipated that a full report will be available for consideration at the meeting. In the
meanwhile the headline findings are as follows –
91% indicated that there was something that would make them use our town centres
more.
223 ideas have been put forward and further details of these will be included in the full
report.
Of the ideas put forward they related to the individual town centres as follows –
Barnoldswick 43
Barrowford 10
Brierfield 13
Colne 53
Earby 6
Nelson 100
Any/all 51
More females (54%) than males (46%) responded to the survey.
Almost half of respondents (47.5%) were in the age range 45 – 64.
The percentage of respondents living within each of the Council’s areas was as
follows –
Barrowford & Western Parishes 10%
Brierfield & Reedley 6%
Colne & District 31%
Nelson 22%
West Craven 18%
Outside Pendle 13%
