Sounds like good news Thomo. I can understand her feelings about the inactivity, very frustrating!

Re: Images Tips and Tricks
You've dragged me out into the clear light of day Ian! I've edited my post above to show the final version which clicks to give the full screen pic. I agree though that "...the thumbnail size is a bit too small to really be of use in a post.." but I guess we are stuck with that size of thu...

Re: PET'S CORNER
I admitted to not having watched the video of Lulabelle - nothing against pigs, I'm just not very fired up by videos. So she sat me down in front of her computer and played it. A fine animal, you were lucky to have such a friend Doc. Also, it reminded me of the Muppets in Space film where they are s...

Re: WILD ? .."I was LIVID" !..(Wildlife Corner)
Saw a bullfinch in our garden shrubs (probably on the Pyrocantha for berries) a couple of days ago, first one we've seen here in 16 years. A beautiful bird, a bit like a big, fat chaffinch but with a very black head and brick coloured chest. It has always puzzled me how the genus could have survive...

Ray, the French have built over 20 nuclear power plants while we've been sitting on our hands, bowing to the campaigners. Nearly 80% of their electricity comes from nuclear power. Have a look at this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_power_in_France

Ian, Sorry if I've misled you and caused you to have to write a long explanation but your first three paragraphs are not really relevant to my problem - on the other hand they will be very useful to other folk, so you certainly haven't wasted your time! :cool4: I'm used to re-sizing images, it can b...

Ian, Thanks for the guide which is logically written - I wish someone would employ you to write all the manuals for gadgets etc that are sold nowadays - most of the manuals are ambiguous and undecipherable. But I can understand why Moh still finds it `double Dutch'. It's OK for someone like me who i...

Ian, Before Sue gets too deeply into trying to post an image perhaps you can clarify again the differences between posting in the Gallery as opposed to as an attachment. I know how to put a picture in a post as an attachment, and how to put one in the Gallery. I can also put the Gallery picture in a...

Sometimes I find the flashing avatars on the right too much, so I re-size my browser window to get rid of them. I don't know about Internet Explorer but in the Firefox browser I click on the middle icon of the three in the very top right corner of my screen and this makes the browser window smaller,...

As well as knowing what the building structure is made out off you may have to take the rain into account too. Wet materials have a lower thermal resistance than when dry. OK if you are comparing wet bricks with the same wet bricks but not if comparing wet with dry, or bricks of different water abso...

Sue, if you need any more help just ask - I've had LOTS of help from others since the new site started and I'm getting to grips with it at last. I was flailing about at first but other members have saved me from sinking altogether!

Greenfield, that's a great bit of history! Your dad got some pretty serious experience flying those machines. The Fortress must have seemed wierd after the Halifaxes and Lancasters, I suppose it would have had much more thermal insulation than the British bombers for a start. My dad was an armourer ...

Thanks for supporting OG Gearce, it wasn't that painful was it! The problem getting through was probably just the Internet, there are so many connections to be made that any one of them could be down just when you are trying to pay. It can happen with any Internet transaction. When Mrs Tiz first tri...

Use of `Wintered' is common among birders as in `wintered in Russia then returned to the UK'. Is that what you mean S or do you specifically mean `survived' rather than simply passed winter? (We're getting pedantic here.)

Thanks for pointing out the little blue arrow Stanley, I hadn't noticed it. The people who design software seem to like to provide a zillion ways to do any one task and i don't need all those boxes down the side! (Perhaps they have night jobs in the Cathedrals of Choice!)

Maz, Belle, Heather, surely if enough people donated to OGFB it would no longer need ads. The way to have an OG free of ads is for us to donate enough until its finances no longer require `outside' sources. Leaving and not donating prolongs the time that ads will be needed. No, I'm not trying to use...
