Re: STEAM ENGINES AND WATERWHEELS

With Stanley's absence today I would like to announce that I took delivery earlier of a Mamod steam engine. It's for my Grandson the next time he visits in an attempt to draw him away from the iPad, we'll see.

I mainly only come on this site for Forgotten Corners and the Steam engine posts (with the odd Marine Engineers) if the truth be known, if life was only so simple. Democracy can upset a group of inward looking groups at the drop of a hat. This has not been a good year for the left....

Re: Clara Hebden

Hi Ian,

sadly Roberts body was not identified after the war and his name is remembered on the memorial at Arras in France.

Is there a way to find the plot?

Clara Hebden

An old friend of mine has contacted me and asked for help to locate a grave of a late relative of his. Clara Hebden drowned when the Lusitania was torpedoed, her body was recovered and she was buried at Ghyl, however after a visit to the Church he was unable to locate her grave. Her husband Robert w...

Re: STEEPLEJACK'S CORNER 2012

Being a Middleton lad I was very interested in the photo taken from the top of the stack but had trouble placing the buildings. I hope you don't mind Stanley but I shared it with some friends who informed me that the photo seems to be reversed. If that is the case then the second photo taken inside ...

Nice one Thomo, at least it's finally happening. It will be good to see him remembered with a proper headstone.
