Ive seen summat simaler but dont know where maybe it was on a myford grinding machine ?? Grinding tapers between the centres

I could try it on my lathe to see if it fits ( its the same as myford ml7 lathes )

I sent the photos to a mate to see if he has any ideas

Looks superb that stanley If it been me i would be leaving it as it is and get a perspect tank like to cover it and leave on sideboard but i know you wont settle for that. Another way to center a drill bit is to use a steel rule
Put in the middle of the round stock and place your drill bit onto it.. if the rule dips or raised its not in center.. also this method is used to find your height centre line on lathe for your tools

hi stanley great you on the mend again do you know where i can get some square threaded bar made,been to a few local engineering firms and they wouldnt entertain me,either they say its not do-able or need special roller boxes or die heads the screw is for a cross slide and dia is 3/8" x 8 tpi square...

Just a pointer guys,if welding cast iron you gonna have to get the cast iron upto a certain temp then start welding while its at that temp

Pity I binned in a wheelie bin a fair proportion of tools that had got left in the damp - I've passed others on elsewhere, and have more still to clean up, they wont fit the lathe though, sorry for that. a shame i didnt become a member sooner just a small update ive been given a couple of tool hold...
