My Great, Great Grandfather, William Brown was born in Barnoldswick in 1813. He's recorded in the censuses up to 1891 and lived, at least for part of the time, in Hemp Butts Cottages. I assume these were located near Butts Mill. He was an "Engine Driver" at a (un-named) cotton mill. His wi...
