Re: BOB'S BITS

And she couldn't vote. Stand by your man.  Tammy Wynette, 1968. In 1968, this country and western song sped to the top of the charts, where it coexisted—uncomfortably?—with several songs by Bob Dylan.   In itself, standing by your man can be an overrated virtue.   It didn’t do much for Hillary Clint...

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Starmer has just announced that Dianne Abbott will stand as a candidate in the General Election.
No clarification of a possible problem with the Left. This is not the end of the matter.

Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

Yesterday afternoon managed to stay dry but it was always cold. At 20;00 it was calm and overcast but dry. First thing this morning it was calm and clear and the CH was on. It is still calm and clear. The glass has risen to 1016mb and is still rising. The forecast is for a sunny start slowly becomin...

We won't blame you Sue, from the look of the forecast it's getting it out of the system ready for Flaming June! I shall be in the shed this morning working on converting a rough casting into a good cylinder. After second sleep I fancy making a savoury rice and onion dish. Not sure yet but I think Su...

Thanks for that Peter! Definitely good news. I keep wondering what the affects of AI will be on both the ability to hack other computers and the investigations into the hackers. I suppose we will never know.

Re: Seen in the News

When I was in California I learned a lot about the instability in slopes that can be caused by water lubricating the boundaries between layers. The more rain we get the more chance there is of this happening I suppose. I can't get away from politics in the news this morning. See THIS verdict on Star...

See THIS for Chris Mason's latest take on the Starmer left wing purge. (I think David is spot on with his analysis that Starmer was blind-sided and has been forced to do his purge of Lefties harder and faster.) Sir Keir Starmer has been accused of carrying out a purge of left-wing candidates ahead o...

Re: BOB'S BITS

Women in church. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.   ...

We were lucky yesterday and had good weather for our gathering in the Square. It's raining now and the CH is on. Deep Joy!

Re: POLITICS CORNER

Latest news coming in suggests that there is a movement inside Starmer's version of Labour that is actively discouraging or excluding left wing candidates. That makes sense when you consider the latest cock-ups. This is disastrous. I said earlier that Labour getting power isn't a done deal and none ...
