You'd have a shaft rule. A triangular shape that automatically sits parallel with the centre of a shaft. These little clips allowed you to convert any steel rule.

I had a nice visit from Susan and we did useful things like change the duvet covers and vacuum all round. I cooked veggies and washed the bedding. Now we have to arrange a meeting so I can have two daughters and two great grand children together on Wednesday. Very exciting stuff.....
