Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I spoke with my Doctor yesterday and was booked in for today. I am now back on antibiotics to clear any residual infection plus UTI which I now have. I do not have any ear wax but an amount of catarrh around the inner ears, steam inhalation should remove this.

Re: WELCOME TO CAT WORLD.
It would appear that it is easier for a "Wannabe" extremist to get in to the UK than an innocent Pussy Cat. It also looks like the same principle is applied, traffickers making an easy buck with the collaboration of two of the crime capitals of this country! Rehoming the two animals should...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Having more or less got through this last infection, I have been left with an after effect that is now causing concern, my hearing has been reduced by about 70%. I have tried warm medicinal olive oil without success. The only good side to this is not being kept awake at night by the constant flow of...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
Yesterday I was asked if I would write a Eulogy to be read out by my Wife at her Brothers Funeral in Milton Keynes, a week tomorrow. This I have done, and it was probably the most difficult thing ever asked of me. All I had to rely on was a sound knowledge of this man, and the gift of experience in ...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Soul food. Braised steak, crisp roast and new potatoes, chopped carrot and swede in butter and pepper, cauliflower florets, Yorkshire Puddings and onion gravy, with good French red wine. My cup runneth over, not strictly true as I hate wasting good wine.

Re: WELCOME TO CAT WORLD.
Hi Stanley, this may be of some help:- Pet Passports The Pet Travel Scheme is a recent innovation that allows you to avoid quarantining when bringing your dog, cat, rabbit or “rodent” into the UK. Although an improvement on previous procedures, this scheme is not completely hassle free for pet-owner...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
"Sorry Thomo but get yourself in there!" Thank you, it has been considered, but like many of my generation we know that it is there if we truly need it, in short it is almost a last resort, and not the first port of call when unwell. My GP knows this and I know he is there if I need him. W...

Re: WELCOME TO CAT WORLD.
When it comes to helping with animals. or their owners when there is distress, you cannot pick and choose. We have always been lucky inasmuch as that there have been very few bad endings, homeless or unwanted cats to new owners, lost cats found and re-united with their owners, none have gone to shel...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
When you consider more closely this country of ours, and the current problems attendant to it, and viewed from the perspective of someone who's family has been here for centuries, many valid questions arise. The majority of this country's population can trace their origins back a long way, be they E...

I am so sorry, it should have been Ali Baba, and not Wizard of Oz, and curry is fine, provided that you know what is in it, and are willing to eat alternatives without your ideological world collapsing, "You can take the boy out of Wales, but not Wales out of the boy" He may have been born...

Re: DIALECT AND WORD MEANINGS
I believe that Stanley is correct here, and that "shuttered down" is more common than he thinks. When Coates Estate was being built, there were two main types of construction, Nicholson's were building with brick, and Wimpey, concrete. As a paper boy the last part of my round took me down ...

I have always considered my self lucky that as a child, the only things I had other than the occasional cold were measles and bronchitis, no mumps, chicken pox, German measles, whooping cough, impetigo, acne, scarlet fever or anything else attendant to that era. I have been vaccinated/inoculated aga...

Another interesting snippet is the Moribund versus Bacon Butty episode. Given that he was born of Jewish Parents one would imagine that it would be a big no no. And then I discovered that he is a declared atheist. As this is not common in Judaism maybe either his conscience was troubling him or bein...

Thanks for that Tripps. Even in a relatively small area different dialect words may have the same meaning. Around where we are "Wah, Woh, Wor, Wi and Eawr" was used to replace the word "Our" there are also classic examples of nearly all being used in a single sentence, but with a...

That is of course very true Ian, yet it is also a fact that something that does not exist cannot be abused. It now transpires that in the matter of the above posts, the picture arrived here as a result of the old fashioned word of mouth, also the “loose cannon” made her final media post on the 29th ...
