Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Got the planning application blurb from Pendle today, it was baffle ball on paper but it said I could apply online which I did and it was delightfully easy - it makes intelligent responses to what you've said, if you say you're an householder, it doesn't ask you all the stuff about agents and stuff ...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

My sister in law didn't have much luck either, they were trying to convince her all the sites she was trying to access were down or having problems, BBC, Facebook, Ebay - all the trivial little nothingness sites............. It was certainly a DNS issue in here case, the router refused to talk to th...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Heres a small lesson in how advertising on websites work. Or in other words pretty much what funds the entire internet. Advertisers do not advertise specifically on your site, that is decided by the advertising service and to some extent by the website owner who usually has some control over the typ...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Orange here is fine, haven't noticed any slowdown, my sister in law has been having similar issues in Padiham though, I thought it might be the router but swapping it out for another didn't improve things. The box appeared to be connected, logging into the router said it was connected, but it only a...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Having now seen said adverts, my opinion is they aren't THAT bad, I've seen far worse, but they are an incentive to make a donation. Just my opinion of course...... I would like to make it clear that although I sport the 'Administrator' badge, I'm leaving the site to Doc's care. Read http://www.oneg...

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Must find a computer that doesn't have my OGFB cookies on it so I can see what these adverts look like everyone is whinging about. Yes I did say this site could be run without donations, and yes it could with aggressive advertising. Having donations and advertising but not at the same time like Doc ...

Just a note here Plugs. You don't need to have an account with Paypal to make a donation using their service. :thumbsup3: Maybe I should have said if you have a downer on Paypal  Lots of people have, especially if they've been a seller rather than a buyer, Paypal treat buyers way above seller...

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Pluggy, I asked about PV's and Conservation areas at the January Craven Area Committee and was given a "maybe". You'll find it in the minutes. I would also get the person who is doing your planning application to take a look at the example of Every Street (Nelson) set out in the Council's...

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

I rang Pendle borough council this morning and spoke with the senior planning officer. It is because we're in a conservation area, she was quite nice about it, but I still need to go through the panning application. She said if it was cut and dried that we wouldn't get planning permission we wouldn'...

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

The government and Pendle borough council are 2 entirely unrelated entities, the government encouraging renewable energy isn't on their radar. The conservation area bounds the old interesting bits of Barlick, Hey farm (Stanley's old stamping ground), The 3 story 18th century back to backs on Manches...

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Just got a letter from Borough of Pendle regarding my lack of planning permission for my solar panels. Not aware I needed any (you don't normally) I did some research and found I'm in a conservation area enclosing the old interesting bits of Barlick. Arbitrary line on a map I think. I live in a humd...

I'd rather have much seriously colder weather so water fell as snow, its utterly miserable outside in this heavy freezing rain. A couple of degrees warmer so the rain got rid of the snow would be nice too.

At the West Craven Area meeting, Neil watson said that there should be no flicker effect as it was more than twice the recommended distance from the properties and not within an arc (which I didn't fully comprehend). Maybe there is a wikipedia entry :geek: Presumably the arc of the shadow as it mov...
