We had some rain late yesterday and overnight. This morning is fine but overcast, and noticeably cooler.

Is it used for holding a piece of metal when it’s being lapped? Think that’s the word. Rotating on carborundum dust and oil.
It can also be used for lapping in engine valves.

I struggle to understand the idea of not teaching English grammar in schools.

We had 21c yesterday, and it looks like heading that way again today, we have wall to wall sunning.

I was taught English grammar after 1956 Stanley, right up to I left school after my o levels (or whatever they called them then) in 1962. We had English language and English literature.

Been for a walk, when the wind was blowing in the shade it was quite nippy, but out in the sun it was acceptable.

We have wall to wall sunning, and it’s forecast for all day.

And yes Stanley he did mention the Arley seam.
It was a really interesting talk and given very well. It was the first of four, I think the second one is next year, shame it’s not earlier. It was well worth the trip over.

Yesterday we had rain part way through the afternoon, apart from that the day was okay. This morning the sky is looking very dark towards Blackburn, although we have sunshine still I don’t think it will last.

Today we are going to Barnoldswick again for another talk, Burnley Coal Mines, 10.30 at St Joseph’s Community Centre.

Well, been for a walk and it’s clouding over, occasional sharp breeze, but it’s tolerable.

It’s grand out today, light cloud, sunning, little to no breeze and warmth. Bliss.

More sunning and warmer, summer is coming.

Just down the road from where Uncle Jm lives. We had an engagement party there in 1973. Good to see they are still dong well.

It’s been expanded over the last few years, and now has a lovely cavernous bar area.

Yesterday we went to the Italian Orchard in Broughton, lovely meal with friends, can’t recommend the place enough. It was very busy, on a Thursday, which shows its popularity, and a variety of age groups.
