I have come across an early 19thC Colne solicitor called Henry Bolton in many old documents relating to the a...

Same experience here Maz, I've cooked it in red wine before and found it a bit tasteless. I'll search online for an inspiring recipe.

Re: Today I shall be Mainly...

Helping move the Earby History Society archives to our new "Archive Room" in the New Road Community Centre. The plan is to make them more accessible to the community, with open days, family history days etc.
Walking this aft.

What's your recipe for pickled beetroot Moh? I've just opened my first jar and am disappointed that the vinegar flavour has completely overpowered the beetroot. :disappointed:

I haven't found anything about the Higgins yet Eileen, but I have found a pedigree of the Bollard family, who lived at Whitehough for over 400 years apparently. Will get back later...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Bubble and squeak, with a fried egg & bacon. Yummy, and only the bacon not home grown. My neighbour turned up yesterday with his"rent" for grazing my field....half a lamb for the freezer.

Re: PET'S CORNER

Our dog has improved with old age, but he always pulls on the lead. After trying harnesses and halter type leads we finally discovered that a simple slip chain collar works best. The collar part is leather, so it's not like the old choker chains. It releases immediately he stops pulling, and seems t...

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

I realized later that my "boom" was too late, at about 8.30pm, for the sonic one so it must have been thunder, or the car hitting the wall.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

We checked outside and no disasters seemed to have occurred, so we decided it must have been thunder. Then there were blue flashing lights up on the road near where our t...

Macaroni cheese & cauliflower bake with a bit of left over boiled ham mixed in. I opened a jar of my own pickled beetroot but it wasn't nice...much too vinegary!
