Re: Free Radio Licence

Thanks Stanley, all good here. A few changes in life since I was a frequent poster. I'm now a part time dog groomer and the occasional dog walker! Absolutely love it, feel like I found my path in life. My own three get a little jealous of it all though, I'm thoroughly inspected on returning home.

Lol, I get notifications for this topic and wasn't busy when it came in.

Trust you are well Tripps. I guess Judge Judy is better than some daytime TV.

Re: Free Radio Licence

He says if you were to wake that one up, you would be on hubnet. It looks like it is permanently connected to hubnet. Apparently I got it wrong, it's Allstar not hubnet. But also Echolink. He runs his own nodes, Allstar node 45831 Echolink gateway G0DUI-L. That's what he listens to all day. He's hap...

G0DUI
He's listening every morning from about 7:30 until about teatime. S20...does that sound right? My terminology may be a little off but he does hubnet too. There's a group of them that chat every mornign, think that is on hubnet.

Sutcliffe

I have missing baptisms. I know there is the possibility that they never took place but I'm trying to exhaust all possibilities. I'm looking for the children of Barnard Sutcliffe and Sally Dyson spanning a period from about 1804 to 1837 when Sally died. They married in 1804. Most of the Sutcliffes u...

Re: Oradour sur Glane

No Maz, still toing and froing though we have given it more serious consideration lately. I have certain criteria that would need to be met before I could live there. That said, I don't think I could see it as a permanent move. It would only be for a few years at most. I'm not saying never anymore t...

Re: Oradour sur Glane

We are about 3 hours south of Oradour Gloria.

we visited a year or two after Panbiker, it was somewhere we had passed often and were aware of but had never visited. Hard to put into words the thoughts and emotions felt when visiting.

Oradour sur Glane

I remember, a few years ago, that there was a discussion about Oradour sur Glane. I think Panbiker may have started it? I tried to search the site for the original topic but soon realised it would be in the archive and didn't know where to start with that.... Anyway, for those who were involved/inte...

Re: Amateur Radio Homebrew (Shack Culture)

Imindoors has worked the Arranmore lot from here in France. He says there is another one - Herm Island, Guernsey.

He has also worked North America, Algeria, Cuba, Canada and Madeira Island.

He also heard a pilot of a 737 operating on 20m while in there air from Spain to th Netherlands.

Re: Amateur Radio Homebrew (Shack Culture)

Imindoors is currently having fun being 'F/G0 DUI' One connection has apparently told him to be careful not to annoy his XYL whilst he is an F! It's nice to see him relaxing while we are here. Panbiker, he has posted more technical stuff about this on his website. There is a link for the above calls...

Re: Signal Propagation

Imindoors response, and I quote...
After a couple of hours with the manual and random button pressing it all does make sense. It's not so different from the FT60 handheld. Once most of it is set you don't need to go into those menus again.

I'm amazed he has actually RTFM! That's a first

Re: Signal Propagation

Imindoors has managed to acquire (for a good price) a second hand yaesu 817Nd. I'm baffled though. He's just been jumping for joy because he can get radio 4?! I did point out that radio 4 is easily available online, through the tv box thing and on the car wireless. Apparently I'm not quite getting it!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?

Indeed Stanley. We are in the process of emptying the contents of our garage into the shed or down the incinerator so that we can give it a makeover. We've been having quick meals all week so that we could make the most of the lighter evenings. Tonights tea will be oatcakes (of the Staffordshire var...

Re: Radio Station Rebuild

Imindoors (G0 DUI) has said much the same re. the callsigns. He had been off the air for some 20+ years. He chats most evenings with 3 or 4 people who he knows from years back while they make their way home from work. He is often listening and enjoys chatting with the SOTA callers when they are doin...

Re: Radio Station Rebuild

Thought about you on Sunday Panbiker. We made the trip north to Blackpool so that imindoors and a friend could visit the rally at Norbreck, I wondered if you might have been there. Friends wife and I had a coffee in Blackpool and then a steady stroll along the prom up to Norbreck while cheering on t...

Thanks both. Pan full of dripping sounds awful, how our cooking methods have changed....thankfully!

I might go with the pasta sauce. I'll put it to our travel companions to decide.

We bought veal escalopes yesterday as they were on offer down the butchers. Other than coating them in breadcrumbs, how would you cook them? Never bought or cooked veal before.

Hi Stanley & Maz.
I've always been able to cook Maz and have always enjoyed doing it but I do enjoy eating out more.

Panini's for imindoors tonight. I'm having roasted veg with rice.
