Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Had a bit of "computers - the agony" yesterday. Went into Skype to keep my account active, and found that it had been suspended, and nearly all my credit had gone. Checked call history, and found calls to mobiles in Egypt, and Indonesia had used all the money. Two long calls mainly, which ...

Had a quick look round Pendle Today, and found this headline...
"WRECKLESS pet owners have been blamed for a 13% increase in hospital dog bite cases over the last five years".
Are you watching Callunna - they need a new proof reader.

Can you burn anything you like in these stoves? Does the Clean Air Act - smokeless fuels etc not apply. I have woodburners on either side. No problem, just occasionally reminds me of November 5th.

Same here. There's no better place to keep your gas/electricity meter readings. I've got several.

I think the phrase is more usually "stick to your knitting". Plenty on google. I don't think it's particularly Northern dialect?. I've heard it used by MP's in parliament.

"I'm surprised that bottled gas comes out at the same figure as mains gas" Not sure what that means. What I meant was that my mains gas consumption does not include the cooker - it's just for hot water, and central heating. I didn't think it was worth converting the range cooker to mains g...

Pat on the back for Plusnet / BT. They have upgraded he exchange to 21CN as promised, and my download speed has increased from 1.9Mbs to 11.5 Mbs. That's the best I've ever had.

That's made my day. I keep note of monthly meter readings, but don't actually photograph the meter. I see that I used 503 units in January and February combined, which is a similar period to that which you describe. ( I use bottled gas for cooking). Proud moment - at the bottom of my records page is...

Thanks for your replies gents. I remain mystified. "Rules" which are in fact "laws" which I'd have thought carried more weight, are "subtly interpreted " and breaches of them are routinely totally ignored. I'll stick to racing. Cheltenham starts next week - that'll keep...

What grabbed my attenion - whilst watching Newsnight just now, a lady was being interviewed about the effect of recent mortgage rate rises. She was called Linda Hines, and is the manageress of the Vauxhall City Farm. That rang a bell - surely she asked about treacle on here, a long time ago. since t...

You have used the word "foreigner" regarding your fire irons meaning an item made at work for private use. (in the meal break of course). No one down here would understand that usage. They would call it a "homer"

I was surfing around to get an update on the opposition to Plusnet, and that site asked for my details of postcode and phone number to assess available speed. Being naive, I gave it to them. Now Plusnet have s...

I think you're a bit out of date with your facts here. Yes , there is a limit on how many aspirin you can buy on one occasion, but they are very cheap indeed, and you can always go round more than once to a different till. I speak with some recent experience in the matter. Stick to generic own brand...

I learnt this at school, and more remarkable still remember it. Named after the 13th Century Scots philosopher Duns Scotus, who was an all round clever clogs in his day. Not sure how he comes to be connected with lack of knowledge, but no doubt google would provide the answer.
