Very very slowly! Brown it off in frying pan, put in casserole dish with carrots, onions, mushrooms and anything else that is to hand. Salt, pepper and mixed herbs. Chicken stock to cook in then thicken with Bisto powder to hubby's taste.

Richard Bell lived at Bell's Farm, which is next to the old post office on the main road in Thornton. He was a renowned fast bowler in the local cricket league.

The part of the building above the ginnel, which looks like it belongs to the house on the right, is called in legal terms a "flying freehold".

I was always led to believe The Bay Horse was an earlier name for The Fanny Grey, where would I find the information that tells me it was Park Close Cottages.
