Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Just to "Evens" things up a little, Chris Evans also is a breath of fresh air in the morning when Radio 4 has depressed me about the state of the world. We may have lost the sobriety of earlier BBC presentations, but there are horses for courses and Chris Evans does have his place. On a pe...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Puppy training (human training) has commenced this week. I paid for some classes but couldn't attend as Buster didn't have his first and consequently his second vaccination on time. The lady holding the sessions offered a couple of solutions including some one to one sessions which is the one I opte...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Buster's farts are "SBDs" - silent but deadly! Yup, we are going to the vets for a vaccination this afternoon and I will buy one of those slow feeding bowls then. The big moment of the day was when Buster found his tail! When not hanging onto it for grim death, he is viewing it with suspic...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Buster the Large Munsterlander is home and settling down with Honey. He comes running to you when you call his name. He is learning that sitting is polite behaviour. He can fart for Britain so I am feeding him some meals by hand partly to slow his eating down. I am sad to say that sometimes I get it...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

Now that I am back on my feet, and being mildly concerned about Stanley's post about yeasty stews, I will reiterate. If you don't feel comfortable about a food premise, don't buy from it. Your gut feelings are probably right. That is a week's holiday with a new puppy that I will never see, however I...

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

My tip here has been sorely learned. If you don't like the look of the tyke serving food at the motorway service station, don't buy and even less consume said food....

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY

I remember watching my dad miss conversations with his cousin who he hadn't seen for years, all because he didn't go for a hearing check (as advised by mother). I stepped in and told the cousin that dad's hearing wasn't all that good so he found a way of grabbing dad's attention. 6 months later dad ...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Every time I think of adding an image I forget what I have to do and end up looking at the "smilies" next to the post a reply box laughing at me.

Yes it is a Munsterlander. The photo, could you see it, is adorable.

Re: PET'S CORNER

I have always been a planner, what I will do in such and such an event. For several years now I have had my eye on a particular breed of dog, mainly for it's nature although it is a looker as well. I would never have introduced a new dog to the family during Sam's last years, it would not have been ...

Mother got caught out with a frozen drain pipe on her washing machine yesterday, the pipe work was combined with her sink and she was trying to bale out the sink!

Re: THE FLATLEY DRYER

My mother bought my daughter a wooden top, as you described Stanley. They duly made patterns on the top and then the fun started, we could put it down to a forgotten technique or the slowing up of fingers. Mother got more entertaining the more exasperated she got.

Re: PET'S CORNER

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. We had some great times and some really peaceful times together, the advantage of living and walking in rural areas cannot be overestimated. I am content that we made the right decision for him yesterday, he was still trying to be a good dog to the end. We let H...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Sad to tell that Sam-u-el the Span-u-el passed today aged nearly 14. The vet struggled out in quite deep snow and did what was needed. We had our final short walk on Sunday last, however his decline was rapid from Tuesday night to Wednesday morning. We made sure Honey was there and I am sure she kno...

Reference above beans question, my dad's answer to how many beans makes 5 was: Two beans, a bean, a bean and a half and half a bean. He reckoned it was from the Beano circa 194something.

I'm pleased to say that Honey is going out for her first walk today. Nothing spectacular, just a few hundred yards or so and back on the lead. Maybe some crisps at the half-way mark.

Good wishes to Jack from Sam and Honey! Honey seems to be on the mend now, thank goodness. She is such a good natured dog, she has been easy to deal with, I really didn't realise quite how much emotion I have invested in her.

Re: PET'S CORNER

Vet's appointment today at 09.00, more struggles with dressings yesterday so I took matters into my own hands. A quick look at the pharmacy yesterday, assuring the pharmacists that it was for me (my peace of mind anyway) and large, self adhesive melanin dressings and crepe bandage later, she spent t...

Re: PET'S CORNER

Honey, Sam-u-el the Span-u-el's best mate, is recovering from a mastectomy on 11th January. She had a mass on her mammary chain which needed to be investigated. Fortunately it was benign, however she has been through the wars since including the first wound opening up and a night trip to the emergen...
