Gearce, I believe that the "last visit" date & time records when you last logged in. If you stay logged in it doesn't reflect the times you visit.

Re: SPRING 2012

Yes Stanley, we have been mud free for a couple of weeks now, it's blissful! I love cold bright weather better than anything, but this dull, cloudy, below freezing stuff is a bit depressing. I am looking after a friend's ponies as well as my own at the moment so I am doing a lot of tottering around ...

Talking of Charlotte Bronte & Jane Eyre I have to mention Stone Gappe in Lothersdale where Charlotte worked briefly as a governess and used as Gateshead Hall in Jane Eyre.

Re: Joseph Bracewell/Susy Hartley/John Higgin

Do you know where the will was proved Eileen? I have found Colne wills proved both in London and York. There is a national database on there which includes some from Chester. The Colne will proved in London was downloadable straight away from the National Archives. I had to order a copy of the one p...

Wackford Squeers. Wonderful name. Dotheboys Hall was said to be based on The Morritt Arms at Greta Bridge. We had a family weekend there to celebrate my parent's golden wedding anniversary back in 1995.

Re: SPRING 2012

What a miserable day! Everything is covered in ice, Every stone in every wall has icicles dripping, and even the wire mesh round the hen run is coated in ice. I don't think I have ever seen anything quite like it.

Tiz, if you use "view unread posts" on the forum page, it brings up every topic you haven't looked at, regardless of category.

David Copperfield, but that's probably because I did it for O' Level. A Tale of Two Cities is a favourite as well.

Fish & Chips for us. Once a fortnight we force our presence on our son, who lives on his own down in Colne. (Just to make sure he is taking care of himself and his home!) Sometimes he cooks, sometimes we collect fish & chips on the way. Last night's from the Cemetery Chippy were delicious.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Even our little turbine produces this "flicker" effect on a sunny morning. It can be quite disturbing, similar to when you are driving past rows of trees with the sun behind them. We have two turbines close by which are bigger than the one proposed at Bracewell. They are quite beautiful, and in keep...

Lasagna for us yesterday, and Col is just cooking us a chilli for tonight. He makes a quick and very tasty version using tinned corned beef and beans of one sort or another. Very cheap and cheerful.
