Re: POLITICS CORNER
The talk of the day is obviously going to be the Budget and the 'End of Austerity'. The reality being that it all depends what you mean by the end of austerity. Police stations and Libraries will still remain closed. Local authorities, NHS and schools will still be short of funds so that efficiency ...

Re: POLITICS CORNER
Watched the CNN interview with the Pittsburgh Mayor, (You Tube) CNN He came across as a very calm rational man. Excellent response under the circumstances. How on earth did America finish up with Trump when City Mayors can out perform him on all counts. Well done that man.

Without going into 'I told you mode' all the reasons you site is generally the reply to people who say "my dad only lived until he was XX years old". The conditions at work in their time was deplorable and we should be thankful of the HSE regulations. On the other hand, as my railway pal o...

Trump's response to this is disgusting. Virtually implying that it their fault for not having an armed guard at the door. Pandering to the gun lobby promoting the sale of guns instead of getting shut of them. Has this man no shame?

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Thanks Ian, I couldn't see why signals within a specific channel should vary but can quite understand that from one end of the total frequency rage there could be some channels more affected by losses than others. Although I'm 23 mile from Winter Hill I'm sat on the top of a hill and can see the mas...

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
OK Ian since you asked. You have obviously picked up on my questions about TV / recorder reception. This question is something that ran through my mind but probably drops into the nice to know category rather than something that solves a problem. Talking Freeview from Winter Hill. the transmission f...

Trump is a con man, a diversion that discredits his position as the President of the most powerful country in the world. For those who can spare 8 minutes of their time its worth listening to Noam Chomsky on this subject. Trump. Being careful not to fall for all the propaganda hype Putin comes acros...

Thanks, I have used Handley Aerials myself but it was some years ago. I'm not pushing this one just at the moment I've some sockets to sort out first. Its becoming to look like a rats nest behind the desktop computer. I may be asking you some of my novice type questions though.

Kev, sorry for the delay higher management got the washer on child lock and didn't know how to release it, another one of the joys of electronics. Back to the channel search. Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Kev. I tried a cheapo booster that I got some time ago from Aldi. (Tevilon). This is a set box type not a mast head booster. I got about 25% increase in signal as shown at the multiplex signal. The end result was still a failure on the ITV stations.

Its a slow burn item. No panic with it but I don't like bits of equipment lying around that can't be used just because I don't know how to fix them. My digging into the supply background has already taught me a lot that I was never aware of. I'll keep playing with it but any help is welcome.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Only slightly off piste. I'm struggling to make any sense of the TV reception via a smart TV and recorder. In my simple layman's terms with the aerial plugged into the recorder then out again to the TV and both units switched to aerial supply, the smart TV gives ALL the freeview channels. But using ...

Continuing with the above theme. This particular RI teacher soon got his P45. He was temporally replaced by higher authority by a real life clergy called believe it or not Cannon Ball.
