Me and Tom put the structure in for Santa's Grotto, part of Switch On Saturday. This is work in progress - less than 12 hours before Santa arrives!

Skipton to Manchester, and the service gives a fast journey between Barlick and Burnley as well.

For Southport nowadays you'd catch the 280 to Preston and change there.

Re: ENERGY MATTERS

Meanwhile, us youngsters are grappling with inflating energy prices... Our fixed rate tariff runs out at the end of this month and I've been checking out what's on offer. Cheapest rate was for a 12 month fix, but we chose a near 3 year fix which was a little more expensive. This gives us a hedge aga...

Re: OBITUARIES

"Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye" I loved you in the morning, our kisses deep and warm, your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm, yes, many loved before us, I know that we are not new, in city and in forest they smiled like me and you, but now it's come to distances and both ...

Re: WATERY MATTERS 2016

Very true Tizer. We had some idiots driving through the water during Earby's flood in September creating bow waves that overcame sandbag defences. It's one of the things we try and guard against with road closures and barriers.

Re: WATERY MATTERS 2016

Thanks Stanley. Consultants are working on the problem of flooding in Earby but it'll be the middle of next year before we have a report. The sort of things they'll be looking at include upstream storage (creating washlands), perhaps a diversion of Earby Beck to below the town in flood conditions, m...

Just one of the hen huts is still standing where it was in this photo; it's the one closest to Bankfield Shed near the canal (it can be seen from the canal if you walk on the towpath nowadays). It looks like there's a gap in the houses on Coates Avenue, the new Skipton Road bridge is yet to be built...
