Re: SPRING 2012
Yes, I'm sure Carr Woods would have had a fair covering of snow and the same for Knowl Hill. I think I mentioned to you on the old OGFB site that I went to boarding school in Bamford 1969-1972. Bamford has changed a lot since then. I want to visit Rochdale at some point in the Spring and take some p...

Re: SPRING 2012
About 2 inches of snow last night here in Nelson, most of this has gone due to some overnight rain. A clear and frosty evening and night with a few misty patches. Turning colder, again, from the east from Wednesday.

Hello Carleton Gal and welcome to OGFB's new look site. I presume you are from Carleton near Skipton because I can't, at the moment, think of any other Carleton's though I'm sure there are some. Anyhow, enjoy yourself on the forum. As Stanley says, we are all a friendly lot, most of the time ! only ...

Re: SPRING 2012
Its looking like we'll have a period of snow tomorrow afternoon and evening for this area. Dryer on Sunday and less cold. Still some snow over in eastern counties on Sunday. The cold weather "could" hold on in eastern England ?

Re: SPRING 2012
Some snow on Saturday evening, after that it could go either way, rain/sleet or some further snow on hills for Sunday. The cold weather conditions over in Europe "could" win the battle.

Re: SPRING 2012
There will be a battle at the weekend between milder air coming into the west and the colder European air mass out east, not sure which will win, but we could get some snow in the time between. Weather forcasters not sure just yet what will happen, but they seem pretty excited about it all. 50/50 ei...

Re: COLD CALLS
Yes, I get cold calls. There's always a pause, then they start going on about something or other. I just say "sorry, I'm not interested" and put the phone down. I notice they usually start saying "could I interest you in such and such" again I'd say "no you can't, goodbye&qu...

I have a cd by Cab Calloway called 'Frantic In The Atlantic' and another cd by Bix Beiderbeck '20 Great Tracks' - Riverboat Shuffle. Do they rate amongst all the greats already mentioned.

Re: mummers
I remember mummers coming to my aunts house around New Year in the 1960s and doing a few cleaning jobs as well as what I would describe as making a "humming sound" as they did the jobs. They frightened me to death, as it were, and I cried because they wore horrid green masks. My cousins we...

Try and try again Zeke or trial and error comes to mind, perhaps. But you're on now so all's okay. These little glitches get ironed-out eventually !

Hiya Ian. I worked on the L&L canal in Coates mid 1970s. Did some of the bank strengthening work side of Rolls Royce. I quite enjoyed working up that way. Got our water for brewing tea from the mill just at the side of the road there, and a few times our dinner from a mill canteen in Coates. Nic...

Yes, same here didn't realise I had to re-register. Doc has done a great job, he can relax a bit now. I'm sure Stanley will soon have plenty of topics back on the site. Long live OGFB. I look forward to putting more comments and articles etc on the site.
