Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
Had my pelvic X-Ray done today at Airedale. Very efficient and speedy through the system. No appointment as it's open access just the referral, in and out in less than half an hour.

The managed IT services that had been bought into in my last full time employment used remote access to sort "customers" out. The service desk was operated from Seattle.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?
How efficient the service was at Airedale Hospital today. I tipped up a 11am at the Outpatients Dept, which has been totally remodeled from the last time I walked through. The former reception desk has been moved and replaced by a seating area, there is a new ambulance and reception area now ahead a...

Did Weet's again yesterday. Opposite way round to the other day, Folly to Standridge, up the ridge to the trig, over the moor to Duckpond and back down Folly from the top. 4.4miles 1hour 40mins, didn't see another soul on the whole route. Was keeping my eyes peeled for a lost iPhone and bank card fr...

Live chat sessions are much preferable to hanging on for ever listening to "lift music". Many organisations are using these facilities now although not necessarily interactive. HM Inland Revenue via the .gov website have the facility now. You end up with a named operative at the other end ...

It is a habit and it is bad for you. I can't believe you are advocating any form of smoking against all the evidence.

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
I was once mixed up with a namesake at our local surgery we both had the same doctor. I had not been to see him for probably 10 years at the time and he pulled the wrong notes, or may have been given the wrong notes by reception. It was back when everything was manual and all your notes were in a br...

Re: MEDICAL MATTERS
On a different matter, I went to the docs last week with a peculiar problem. I have a dodgy leg or I should say I have dodgy leg after vigorous exercise such as a good walk. I develop weakness in my right leg after about 3-4 miles into a walk depending on terrain, I can sometimes go further on the f...

I'm not arguing either Maz just stating what it says in the instructions for my BP monitor. It is also the practice adopted by our surgery nurses in my experience.

I think that's the point. The machine is only displaying the result. Position of arm and cuff is the important bit. If your arms are down by your sides you could put the cuff lower than your heart hence the advice about the pillow.

My machine is the same as those used at our surgery. The instructions state that you should elevate the arm from which the reading is being taken using a cushion if necessary to ensure the CUFF is level with your heart. Cuff placement is dependent on which arm you are taking the reading from (diagra...

If I take my BP straight after a walk it is always around my average, pulse is elevated though as you would expect. I generally do it again 15 mins later and I'm back down to normal.

I saw the dog first David, ears flat and pegging it straight for me over the moor, over the next rise I saw the lass who's running mate it was. We stopped to exchange pleasantries and she said the dog was her pacemaker although it generally ran twice as far as she did.

These lads were made of different stuff I reckon. I dare say they would have qualified for the "Right Stuff" if they had been in the USAAF. Winkle could have been up there with Neil, Buz and their like.
