Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY

Ummm, not sure what's going on. I'm using my Ethernet cable otherwise wouldn't be commenting - even this went off just after midnight. :surprised:

Re: Winter 2012

Glass is 30.6.9 tonight Stanley over in Nelson. Not as high up as you though - maybe 200 feet or so ?

Just checked with Higham Weather Station below Pendle Hill. They give a berometer reading of 1036.5. So pretty near I would say. Yes all to do with altitude I think.

Re: Winter 2012

Well there could be a dusting of snow by tomorrow morning but nothing significant. Very cold breeze from the east will continue over the weekend. Slightly milder early next week.

Re: WHAT ATTRACTED YOUR ATTENTION TODAY?

Thank you Stanley. I think Mr Stephenson only looks at what he has to look at. Anything a bit worrying he just ignores. He's too busy stuffing his face at local resturants and posh do's, much like his boss dodgy Dave of Downing Street. :laugh5:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO STANLEY  I see he has a letter in Nelson Leader Colne Times today. :surprised: Wonder if our Mp for Pendle will take notice of it.

Snow, sleet, hail and freezing rain during the afternoon in Nelson. Its raining this evening together with a gusting wind. But getting a bit milder. Should be a better day tomorrow with some sunshine and milder temperatures.

A spell of sleet and snow during the afternoon here in Nelson. Turned to rain by early evening and snow got washed away. Still very cold though. Better tomorrow with some sunshine although staying very cold and windy.

Re: The cheap seats

Its a lovely film 'Whistle Down The Wind', Stanley. Yes it was filmed in Downham, Rimington and at Towneley Hall and a few other local places. The farm used was Worsaw Hill farm, I believe. Probably still there, just up the lane from Downham. They used the school and community centre in the village,...

Re: Milk Bar

Slaters in Nelson was a milk bar, cafe and ice cream parlour. It still sells ices and milk shakes today but the cafe has gone. There used to be, in the 60s-70s, UCP cafes in Nelson - there were two or three I think. They sold anything associated with local farms. The name was 'United Cattle Products...

Some snow on Friday, but signs of a change to milder westerly gales with rain during the coming weekend. That could change between now and then though.

Re: The cheap seats

I understand mucky little boys with fleas sat in the front seats and sometimes piddled on the seat because they didn't want to miss the film. That's where the name 'flea pit' comes from and that's what I have been told by my parents. But that could be wrong. :laugh5: :laugh5:
