Yiota is over from Oz and said she wanted to see snow. She and Susan went to Whitby yesterday.... I have an idea she might have seen more there than here.

Lovely picture. The sort of colours you see in an art galley.

Let it roll on slowly, Stanley!

It'll be Christmas again before we know it.

Have had a four day gap between the judging and tomorrow's start on putting the beach in; summer'll be over be over far too quickly.

Interestingly, the northlight roof you can see in the picture is remaining (for now at least). The white ends are sections of upvc cladding installed to keep the weather out of a retained section. Blockwork has been erected up to roof height.

I'll get a fresh picture of the demolition from my canal bridge position this morning, all being well.

Very true...it's too easy to live somewhere and not appreciate how lucky you are. Living on the northern edge of Blackburn I was lucky to be in easy distance of the Ribble valley. I used to enjoy cycling to Whalley but not on the newer road. Instead setting out up past the old Blackburn cemetery, past Parsonage reservoir and on Whalley Old Road which runs along the ridge and then drops down into Whalley. Lovely views from up there. I seem to remember there was also a lane even higher on the ridge that I cycled on too - looking on Google Maps it must have been Moor Lane which diverged from Whalley Old Road where York lane met it near Langho. But you had to be careful on the sharp bend just before the lane met the main road at the bridge over the river!

I agree with you Tiz about the old lanes. One thing that has struck me over the years poking about around here is that if you are on a lane with holly trees in the raised banks on either side you are always on a medieval way. Follow the Holly bushes (often trees!) for the most picturesque views.
