Which Logo?
Which Logo?
None of the old site logo's were suitable for this site so I asked a very helpful young lady if she could come up with some designs and she swiftly produced these smashin logos ideas.

Re: Which Logo?
It may be useful to know where it may be used. In place of walking data man perhaps?

Would nos. 1 and 5 have white or transparent backgrounds?

The final logo's will have a transparent background

I think colours could be altered to suit whatever background the logo appears on, so if red and black clashed you could have, say, green and white.

Re: Which Logo?
No. 5 could be used as a kind of badge - the sphere on its own. This would make it a very versatile device to appear in many different kinds of places, not just as a banner at the top of the website page. I’m thinking Favicon, T shirts, helicopter landing pads. OK, not helicopter landing pads, but you get the idea.
The “OG” reminds me a bit of the infinity symbol.
No. 5 seems to be much more “Today” (ie 2012) than some of the others. Just my opinion...

Re: Which Logo?
I voted , but they are all good , Number 4 looks the coolest button badge/ T-Shirt logo , but those with the name are more useful in reminding users where they are.

[pasted here from another thread]
An animated logo could be designed. The disc (for example) could revolve or spin, or if none of the existing proposals are suitable then the designer could take on board what people like and dislike and come up with another solution. It’s actually helpful for a designer to get constructive feedback.

Re: Which Logo?
#3 because it gives the meaning of OGFB, there are other users of OGFB so #3 spells it out.
Re: Which Logo?
Yes I like 3 too - it gives the full name clearly.
Say only a little but say it well.
Re: Which Logo?
No 3 for me.
I must admit though I do like the walking man.

Re: Which Logo?
I was wondering the same thing. Did I see that the walking man was being used on the new tourist site?

Re: Which Logo?
No.5 so long as it got a contrasting border.
Otherwise No.3 for the stand out simple facility

Re: Which Logo?
I still like the walking man, and if it means getting rid of him I think it should be left as it is. Not sure of we need the other pic of the town centre though, perhaps the walking man could walk around that at the top sometimes. These are just my views not criticisms.

Re: Which Logo?
These images were designed quite quickly just to see if it was the kind of thing Doc had in mind. I wasn’t really expecting them to be presented as the final offerings! I can revisit them and/or come up with new ideas if you want. Or just leave the walking man if that’s what folk want.
I personally find the walking man irritating and the sort of thing that in the 1980s the geeks enthused about and spent 9 hours keying in the listing from a computer mag (yes - I actually laid out an article on a very similar image) but I hope that hasn’t come across as dismissive - a good image is a good image however old it is (stop digging, Cally, you’re only making it worse...)

Re: Which Logo?
I quite like the walking man, especially on the pic of the old Barnsey site..... Takes more than that to irritate me.

Re: Which Logo?
Perhaps a little extra coding and every 10th pace a 360deg somersault or a turn face front and wave ?

Re: Which Logo?
Welcome back Stu. Logo number 2 I think I would find it hard to resist clicking it to find out what it did. I thought the logos along with some of the other modifications to version 2 and a bit of the site had gone on hold as I recall Doc had somewhat more pressing matters at home , which quite rightly come first in attention terms.
