Canal connected people

Post by David Whipp »

The local family history group which meets at the Rainhall Centre has been approached by a TV programme about filming later this month.

The film crew are interested in locals who have ancestors that were around when the canal was built.

Please can any possibilities be posted on here, or notified to Harold Hoggarth on hhogg1312@aol.com (tel 01282 816002).

The filming is due to take place between 21st to 24th July.

You might have to dig them up. Main construction was over by 1810....

They're looking for people who had forebears around when the canal was built, not folk living at the time, Stanley!

Deadline well and truly passed now, but we have two connections to canal people....a direct one on one side of the family and a connection by marriage on the other side.
I watched Tony Robinson's "Walking through History" and he mentioned the family connected by marriage and interviewed remaining direct members. Fascinating.
