From clip one would it not be the norm to knock the debris inside the chimney?

Clip two, No 3. biggest ladder idiot does not even have the ladder extended.

When my wife was in China she observed a concrete multi story car park being built with bamboo scaffolding. She also saw a new major road being built by workers in flip flops and coolie hats. No mechanisation at all, pick, shovel wheelbarrow. There were a lot of them though so a bit of attrition would probably go unseen.

The hangers in the first picture were often used on big chimneys years ago,me and Dunny have come across them, chimneys were always demolished like that but if you miss with the big hammer your off to the Coop :surprised:

It was me Bodge, Sally went with friend who's daughter was teaching out there. A strange phenomenon though, and something only a woman could do. She came back with two more suitcases than she went with!

I noticed the other day that the dire message on my pack of Condor warned "Beware! Smoking is addictive'. I think anyone smoking black pipe tobacco regularly will be well aware of that!

Nice to see you back! No apologies needed, we all have lives to live. What are you doing at the moment? I'm reposting some of the old pics in the hope that it will attract some of the lads back.

Ellenroad Mill at Newhey just before N&R started the demolition. Notice that the drum is missing off the top of the chimney.

But the oversillers were starting to move because of the lack of weight on them. Anyway it was you and Peter who put it back on so stop whining!

Peter casting the concrete rim on Ellenroad stack when he and Tom rebuilt it. Granite chippings, sharp sand and cement mix. Sheet metal former, copper rods at each end to tie with the next segment and the joint painted with bitumen to allow it to breathe. Alternate segments cast and then gaps filled in. I think there were eight segments. When finished it was bulletproof! Peter once saw Firs demolishing a chimney that he'd put one of these cap rings on and when he warned them about it they ignored him. When the chimney was felled the ring wasn't broken and rolled away down the hillside and smashed through the wall of the mill. I think that on the same job Firs dropped the stack on the compressor..... (Could be a tall tale but even so it's a good one!)

Do you remember the stainless steel anchors we cast into the base of the drum? When Brooke Edgeley came to the job they loved them, said all stacks would benefit from them.
