You're right Wendy, it was OK when there was a bit of sun struggling to get through the cloud but once that was gone the wind was cruel.
Yesterday, during the afternoon we descended into a procession of minor showers which were still active at 20:00 and first thing this morning. I have just looked outside and the showers have ceased, it is calm, cool and dry with thinner overcast. The glass is down on 993mb and the forecast is similar to yesterday, a cloudy morning then sunshine and showers this afternoon and evening. The light variable east wind shifts between NE and SE all day and gives us a high of 13C and a low of 7C with a -1C chill all day. Yet again, the outlook is for no change, similar weather for at least five days. Not summer but quite growy in its own way, things could be worse!
05:30. Been for a walk. Calm, cool and dry with gaps in the cloud cover coming in from the east.

Bright, clear sky this morning, and a lot more warmth in the sun.

Same here Gloria, this sun wasn't in the forecast. Just had a pleasant half hour on the bench watching the traffic.... :biggrin2:

It's been sunny intervals all morning down here in Foulridge, it's starting to 'grey up' now though.

Yesterday the afternoon deteriorated as per the forecast. At 20:00 it was calm, mild and we had light rain. This morning it is calm, dry and we have a light overcast. The glass is up on 997mb. The forecast is for a mixed day of heavy over cast and showers first thing and light overcast, sunny intervals and showers this afternoon. The wind is light and covers all points of the compass. We can expect a high of 11C and a low of 7C tonight with a -2 wind chill this afternoon when the wind is in the north. The rest of the week is the same. Overcast with sunny spells and showers and 12C every day.

Beautiful day yesterday until about 3pm, then it clouded over and we had thunder and rain by teatime. Heavy cloud and feeling like rain this morning, quite mild though.

The afternoon had some good sunny spells but until evening always with the intervention of a dark cloud and a shower. At 20:00 it was calm, dry and a partially overcast sky. First thing this morning it was the same but overcast. The glass is up again at 1005mb. The forecast is for a day of sunny spells and occasional showers, much the same as yesterday but perhaps more sun. The wind is a light to moderate westerly and will give us a high of 13C and a low of 5C with a wind chill that will get to -3C this afternoon when the wind is strongest. The outlook is as boring as ever, the same unsettled weather for at least five days. The good thing is that of those five days only one is expected to bring an east wind, the rest have wind from the west. I always fear that biting east wind at this time of year just when the grass is starting to move.

So far, enough clear spells in the cloud are enabling some good bursts of sunshine.

My mate Steve has been to Settle this morning and says he went through a cloudburst up there. I suppose it could happen here....
Just been out and sat in the sun watching the pedestrian crossing lights change. Steve has suggested I take a notebook and keep a record of the changes...... Right..... :biggrin2:

Blue sky and sunshine here in Foulridge, I'm tempted to take a short walk. I might wander up to Rock Lodge, on Skipton Old Road, and inspect the retaining wall currently under construction.

London's wet . sometimes windy, then bright sunny is becoming one of the years when the April Showers come in May. Farmers probably not happy, too cold for growth in April, and now heavy rains flattening crops, its not easy to find a cash crop that can be depended on in England.

Kev, watch out, you're getting as bad as me and the pedestrian crossing.
Yesterday was a far better afternoon than forecast with plenty of long sunny spells. At 20:00 the sky was clear, it was calm and we had full sun. This morning it's still calm and clear. The glass is up again on 1010mb. The forecast is for a cloudy start (!) and then sunny spells. Sounds as though once again it's going to be better than the forecast. The wind is a light westerly that tends to the north and strengthens slightly as the day goes on. It gives a high of 13C and a low of 4C with a -3chill later when the wind rises. The outlook is for cooler and wetter weather for a couple of days.
Later at 05:30. I've had a short walk, scattered cloud and the sun coming in from the East.

The afternoon was showery but no thunder or cloudbursts. At 20:00 it was calm and we had full sun from a clear sky. This morning it was still calm and clear and is the same now with rosy dawn light in the East. (Remember when it was dark until 9AM?) The glass is up slightly on 1014mb. Despite the clear sky the forecast is for cloud this morning and heavy rain starting around 11:00 and lasting for the rest of the day. The wind is a light to moderate SE gusting to 30mph giving a high of 10C and a low of 8C with a -3C chill. The outlook is for unsettled weather for the next five days.
05:30. The forecaster has just said that the chart he has is more like autumn than late Spring. I have had a short walk, low sun coming in under light cloud so far. Not as much overcast as in the forecast.

Yesterday it rained from 10AM onwards and as far as I can see it's not stopped since, still raining this morning and the forecast is for rain all day. The glass reinforces this, it has fallen to 981mb and is still falling fast. The wind is a moderate southerly and changes to NW by this evening giving a high of 12C and a low of 5C with a -3C chill this morning and -2C this afternoon. The only change in the outlook is less rain and cooler for a couple of fays. Deep Joy!
