Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

Yesterday was not sunny as promised in the forecast. At 20:00 it was cold, dry and overcast with a light east wind. Same this morning, no stars. The glass is down slightly on 1028mb. The forecast is for a dry day, overcast all day but perhaps some sunny spells this afternoon. The constant moderate east wind is cold and gives us a high of 5C and a low of 0C with as much as -5C wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather for the next week.
As usual I am watching that east wind, it can be a real bummer at this time of the year if it sets in.

That was what I found Wendy when I went for a walk at dinnertime. You couldn't even see Long Ing!
Yesterday was cold and misty all day with no sign of the promised sun. At 20:00 it was still cold and misty. This morning it's calm, cold, overcast and we have a light mist. The glass is steady on 1025mb. The forecast is for the mist to clear later this morning and then sunny spells but that's what they forecast yesterday and it never happened so we'll wait and see! The light east wind gives a high of 5C and a low of 1C with a wind chill of 3C. Once more, the outlook is for very similar weather for at least a week.

Lovely day yesterday, but very misty this morning and feels much colder, the sort of cold which gets right into you....damp cold.

Yesterday was another dull, cold misty day. At 20:00 it was calm, cold and misty with a clouded sky. Same this this morning, looks exactly like yesterday. The glass is down a touch on 1022mb. The forecast is for a dry overcast day, no mention of fog! The NE wind is constant, light to moderate and gives a high of 6C a low of -2C and a wind chill of -4C. The outlook is for exactly the same weather until Tuesday when we might see a change and some rain.
05:20. No mist this morning but we now have a very fine mizzle which I suppose could be called heavy mist.....

We’ve got the same Stanley, can’t call it rain, it’s mizzling, cloudy and there’s a chill in the air but no frost.

That was the picture most of the day here Gloria.
Yesterday was another cold damp day, there were occasional flashes of sunshine and it had heat in it but not enough to warm things up. At 20:00 it was calm dry and cold and that was the picture this morning. No mist but overcast and calm. The glass has risen to 1028mb. The forecast is for a dry mostly cloudy day, perhaps a bit of sun this morning? The wind is a light NE and gives a high of 5C and a low of -1C with a -3C wind chill.
The outlook is for similar weather but the change to rain has been pushed out to Wednesday now. Not a warm Spring day......

No, it's because it isn't a warm Spring day. Calling it winter doesn't alter that fact Ian.
I'm going for a walk to the post box. Bit brighter and marginally less cold than yesterday.

I'm calling it Winter not to alter anything but just because it still is. I could say why mention Spring at all when we still have a fortnight to go. 20th March this year then we can complain that it is or is not Spring like. As far as I am aware we are still orbiting our local star on the tilt.

Deep waters here.

Despite being aware of the March 21st thing which is surely right - I go with the Met Office who (I think) start the Spring weather period on March 1st. It's just a convenient convention that the less educated amongst us can grasp.

Quite, and it still isn't a warm Spring Day!
It managed to stay dry yesterday which was an improvement on the day before. At 20:00 it was calm, cold and we had low broken cloud. It's the same this morning and the glass is up again on 1031mb and still rising. The forecast is for a dry day with broken cloud and sunny intervals. The very light wind starts in the east but soon becomes a westerly. It gives us a high of 5C and a low of -1C with a maximum chill of -3C later in the day. The outlook is for similar weather for the next three days but wind and rain on Wednesday followed by more changeable weather.

We did away with the seasons on the site four years ago now in favour of this single weather topic. You don't have to be particularly bright to appreciate that we flip and flop through our seasons due to our rotational period around the sun. I'm pedantic about this because I know it's right. It's a bit like the which county is Barlick in debate, I know that as well and frequently argue the toss for educational purposes, (for those that cant remember) and to keep the historical record straight. I can't do with square toast either although that is a totally different issue, I still enjoy my toast in triangles and rhomboids though! :extrawink:

A public service announcement: Expect a change in the weather, I cut my hair yesterday.
Yesterday was a nice day and at 20:00 it was calm, clear and chilly. Same this morning but with low broken cloud. The glass is down on 1025mb. The forecast is for a cloudy but dry day. The constant westerly wind is light and then moderate. It gives a high of 6C a low of 2C and a -3C chill all day. The outlook is still for it to warm up and rain on Wednesday.

Can't understand why people whinge about hair cuts so much. Solution is so simple, head feels lovely now and so easy to keep clean!
We had a light shower yesterday afternoon but at 20:00 it was calm, cool, clouded and dry. This morning there had been a recent light shower, it was calm cool and partly clouded. No rain now and it's trying to dry up. The glass is down on 1020mb. The forecast is for a clouded day and we will have a chance of light rain for most of the daylight hours. The wind will be a moderate constant WSW giving a high of 6C and a low of 4C with as much as a -5C wind chill. The outlook is for a brewing day tomorrow similar to today but the wind will start to rise in the evening. By Wednesday we will be into a full blown Atlantic low pressure system with wind and rain. After that we can expect brighter and more changeable weather.
