Re: TODAY'S PENNINE WEATHER

The forecast was accurate yesterday insofar as the rain stopped late morning and we had a dry end to the day. At 20:00 it was calm, milder and dry. First thing this morning it's the same and so far it's dry but we are promised rain all day starting before 06:00. The glass is up on 996mb. The light wind starts in the SE but increases and as it does becomes WNW and gusts to 50mph by midday. The high is 11C and the low tonight 8C with a -4C chill when the wind is strongest. The outlook is for four days of this mild Atlantic weather but then it starts cooling as we go into the new year next week....

We are having high 30C’s at the moment, heading to 37C for New Year’s Eve. 😓😓
Gradually easing to mid 20C’s by mid next week, then rising again.

Some places further south will have close to 20C Cathy.
Yesterday it was quite a pleasant afternoon, mild and dry but a strong wind. At 20:00 it was breezy but mild and dry. This morning we have heavy rain which will be with us all day with happen a break around noon for a couple of hours. The glass is up slightly on 997mb. The forecast is for a wet day. The moderate wind will gust to 30mph and give a high of 12C and a low of 11C tonight with a -2C chill. We can expect this mild weather until Tuesday when the rain clears and the temperature drops.

Yesterday the dry spell which allowed me my noon walk ended on time at 13:00 and from then on it rained. It was raining at 20:00 and still heavy rain first thing this morning with a yellow warning for rain until 04:00. That was accurate and it has stopped raining now. The glass is up slightly on 1001mb and the forecast says the rest of the day will be dry but overcast. The constant WSW wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph at times giving a high of 12C and a low of 10C tonight with a -4C chill at times. The outlook is for the mild and possibly rainy weather to last until Tuesday when it clears and temperatures plummet.

Morning Dull, Brightened Up Now. London Forecast seems much the same as Manchester for the next 14 days.
The 4th Jan Dip (but only to one overnight Zero), then colder for the days and nights (but presumable 7deg days and 4deg nights are about average for January), with bright spells and cloud and some rain. The Grass is growing thinking it is early spring and the weeds are growing faster, the birds are singing and looking for nesting sights but the council have cleared the fallen leaves from the paved streets and mudlands of the parks and so it is slim pickings for insects for them. Daffodils are pushing through too. At sometime a frost and cold winds will hit between Mid Jan and Late May, question is when , if its from the east bits of Barnoldswick do have a touch of shelter, (the higher ground not), if the winds are from the west unlikely to be cold, so its how any high settles - does it bring the northern cold winds or southern warm ones - could be either depends how the jet stream wanders. Will the Scotland Mountains get a full snow cover for 365 days in 2022 or will they have their own glacial melt again ?
Anyway take advantage of the mildish weather for now and turn the room stat down half a degree and save a bit of gas seems the sensible thing to do.

Yesterday it stayed mild and dry and at 20:00 we had a stiff breeze and the flags were drying up. First thing this morning it's the same, breezy, dry and overcast. The Glass is 1007mb. The forecast is for the cloud to clear during the late morning and we may see some sun. The SW wind is brisk and gusts to almost 40mph this morning giving a high of 13C and a low of 8C with a -3C chill. The outlook gives us two more mild days but on Tuesday we drop to around 3C during the day. Our respite is almost over!
Later, listening to the Shipping Forecast... There are hurricane force winds forecast for waters in the far North West. As we bask in our unseasonable temperatures we should remember what's happening up there!

Yesterday was the last of the very mild days and by 20:00 we had a stiff breeze and light rain. It has rained during the night and we still have a wet and very windy morning. The glass is down on 1000mb. The forecast is for the heavy rain to give way to showers and sunny intervals for the rest of the day. The constant SW wind is brisk and gusts to 40mph at times. The high will be 9C and the low 7C with a -4C chill. Expect a similar day tomorrow and then much dryer colder weather becoming unsettled and wet later next week.

There was rain on the wind at times yesterday afternoon but by 20:00 it was dry but still windy. First thing this morning it was the same, dry, overcast and windy. The only change is a light spatter of rain on the wind. The glass is down on 997mb. The forecast is cloudy changing to brighter intervals and light showers this afternoon. The constant brisk WSW wind gusting to 40mph gives a high of 8C and a low of -1 tonight with as much as a -5C chill this morning. The outlook is for two clearer dry days but much colder, then the weather warms a bit but we get rain and possible snow later in the week. January weather coming down from the North and taking control.

Yesterday afternoon was damp and at 20:00 it was setting in for more rain during the night. First thing this morning it had stopped raining, the wind had dropped and it was freezing. We have a yellow warning for ice until late morning. I've just looked out and the flags are drying as the temperature falls under a clearing sky. The glass is down slightly on 996mb. The forecast is for a clear dry sunny day during daylight. The constant WNW wind is light to moderate and gives us a high of 2C and a low of 0C with a chill of -6C later today. That's right it's going to be a properly cold day! The outlook is for more of the same and perhaps snow Thursday and Friday but after that the weather warms up a bit. I think it's winter!

Yup! Senior moment!
Yesterday afternoon was dry but very cold after a slow start to the sun and at 20:00 we had a light cold wind and a clearing sky. This morning first thing it was still the same, clear sky and very cold and it hasn't changed since. The glass is up on 1002mb and rising. The forecast is a re-run of yesterday, clear all day and sunny. The moderate wind is mainly WNW all day gusting to 25mph and giving us a high of 3C, a low of -4C and a chill of as much as -5C. The result will be that it feels like well below freezing all day so wrap up warm again. The outlook gives us two more very cold days with warnings of snow and then on Saturday we enter a spell of milder wetter weather for a couple of days.

Yesterday was again dry but very cold. It was like that at 20:00 and still the same this morning with a hard frost. It's still the same now. The glass is up on 1014mb but falling. The forecast is for it to start overcast and by Midday we can expect snow/rain which will continue into tomorrow. The brisk southerly wind will gust to 40mph and give us a high of 3C and a low of 0C with a wind chill of as much as -6C which means that effectively it will be below freezing all day. The outlook is for tomorrow to be very similar to today and then for some much warmer days into next week.
