Have you thought of one of those flashing lights that cyclist use. Where you put it is up to you. :biggrin2: Then there's the helmet camera so if we find you lying in the road we will know who done it :laugh5:

Yes P. I have considered it but rejected it as overkill. I may revisit that decision! I said years ago that cars were getting too easy to drive and comfortable, a 'womb with a view'. Now we have the added 'benefits' of cell phones and vibrating heated seats. Drivers are totally divorced from the outside world. What I need is a force field!
Yesterday was an accurate forecast, unpredictable showers all day. At 20:00 it was raining and the same first thing this morning. it's still raining but not as heavily. The glass is down slightly on 989mb. The forecast is for the rain to cease about now and for an overcast day, dry but with some brief sunny intervals. The constant NW wind is light and gives a high of 11C and a low of 5C with a -1C wind chill. The outlook is for dry, overcast weather, a touch cooler but essentially no change.
06:05. The forecast was right, very light rain fading to drizzle and mist as we walked round. Easy on Jack....

Yesterday afternoon was very acceptable, dry, bright and plenty of sun. At 20:00 it was the same and also first thing this morning with the added benefit that it was calm. We have had our first 35 minute walk, very pleasant, calm, dry cool but not cold. We have 50% overcast but plenty of clear sky, brilliant stars and good moonlight.
The glass is up on 1005mb and still rising strongly. The forecast is for a dry bright day with a sunny morning. The mainly NW wind is light to moderate and gives a high of 9C and a low of 7C with up to a -2C wind chill depending on the strength of the wind. The outlook is still for similar dry weather.

A very acceptable October day yesterday. At 20:00 it was breezy not cold and dry. First thing this morning it was dry, calm and very thin overcast giving the crescent moon a halo, still the same. The glass rose all day yesterday and is now steady on 1016mb. The forecast is for a very similar day to yesterday, dry bright overcast and some sunny spells, perhaps just a bit more cloud. The wind is light and variable but mainly from a northerly direction giving a high of 11C and a low of 6C with a -1C wind chill for most of the day. The outlook is still for similar weather.
06:10. Avery acceptable walk on a cool dry morning, very thin broken cloud and a wind that is so light it can't make up its mind. The cloud moves East to West the wind on the ground is from the North. I have had worse walks in October!
One very good surprise was that the wrecked hearse and the grey banger that have adorned the front of the Central garage for months have both gone! A big improvement.
07:00. A light shower of rain! But plenty of clear sky.

Very quiet day yesterday and the occasional very light rain was no problem. At 20:00 it was calm, dry and cool. Same thing this morning and it must be overcast as I couldn't see the moon. I've just checked and it's improved, we have a half moon with a halo! The glass is unchanged, steady on 1016mb. The forecast is for a very similar day to yesterday, overcast but dry and some sun. The constant SW wind is moderate and gives a high of 10C and a low of 6C. The wind chill is -4C at the moment and will moderate to -2 or -3C as the day progresses. The outlook is still for similar weather, mainly dry but a chance of rain on Friday.
06:15. A cool but dry Crombie walk under 100% overcast which occasionally shows a break and partly reveals the moon. The wind is nippy but that's to be expected. All told, not too bad!

The forecast was accurate and we had a good day yesterday, midges on the Green in the afternoon despite the cold wind. At 20:00 it was clear calm and dry. First thing this morning it was the same, a sky full of stars but the moon has waned. There's a cold breeze now and perhaps some thin high cloud. The glass is down a bit on 1012mb. The forecast is for any cloud to lift by dawn and we should have a clear sunny and dry day. The constant southerly wind is moderate and cold and gives a high of 11C and a low of 8C tonight. There's a -3C wind chill at the moment and we shall have that or -2C for the rest of the day. It should be a good day for the walkers as long as they are wrapped up well!
05:45. We were out early and as soon as we got outside I realised I was wrong about the moon earlier. I had forgotten how quickly its orbit changes and when I said we had lost the moon, it hadn't risen! We have a brilloiant crescent moon and a clear sky studded with stars. The wind is noticeable and cold but it's dry and overall we had a good walk. Good scent morning for Jack!
One thing I note is that the derelict bank next to Barclay's has another sign on it as well as the original 'Lease for Sale' sign, it is from Petty and describes the property as 'For Rent'. One can only hope that it is a reasonable rent and gets back into use.

Another acceptable day. At 20:00 it was calm overcast and dry. It was the same first thing this morning and hasn't changed apart from more wind now. The glass is down on 997mb and still falling. The forecast is for a day of sunny spells and showers with perhaps more serious rain coming in this evening. The constant moderate SW wind gives us a high of 11C and a low of 5C tonight. The wind chill is -4C at the moment but will settle down to -2C for most of the day. The outlook for tomorrow and Saturday is for possible heavy rain, after that it is drier and colder.
06:15. Not as cold as the forecast suggested, mainly because we have less wind than forecast. 100% overcast but dry and on the whole a pleasant late October walk.

Yesterday was cloudy but essentially dry with just light rain in the evening. At 20:00 we had little wind and steady rain. First thing this morning it was calm and dry but damp drying flags. At the moment it's calm, overcast and dry. The glass is up slightly on 1004mb. The forecast is for a cloudy start but dry, at about noon heavy rain is expected and will persist well into Saturday. The constant southerly wind is light to moderate giving a high of 9C and a low of 5C. Wind chill of -2C. It will cease raining early afternoon tomorrow and the outlook after that is brighter and drier but cooler in single figures all week.
06:30. We had a quiet walk down to the butcher's. Calm, light overcast (the crescent moon was visible through the cloud), dry with a slight mist. The forecast of rain is firm now and we can expect it to come in around noon, it has already reached Tiz!

Yesterday's forecast was spot on, the rain came in at noon and I don't think it has stopped since. At 20:00 it was raining, it was the same first thing this morning and as I write it hasn't changed, calm with steady rain. The glass fell yesterday to well below 995mb, it is recovering slowly and is on 1000mb. The forecast is for rain all day, eventually slackening at around 17:00. The wind is very light and variable but mainly westerly (with brief excursions to the north). The high will be 6C and the low 4C with a -1C wind chill most of the day. The outlook is for slightly warmer weather and dry for the rest of the week.
06:10. Back from a wet walk but we were lucky, it slackened a bit as we were walking round so Jack didn't get soaked, just wet! He is rubbed down and sausaged and is feeling no pain. I note that the hanging baskets have gone and the flower beds in the Square are ready for the erection of the large emitters. Any day now!
Butts Beck is running very strongly, evidence of how much rain has fallen overnight.

It stopped raining on time at about 13:00. At 20:00 it was overcast but calm and dry. First thing this morning it's the same but of course everything is damp. The glass has risen to 1012mb. The forecast is for a dry day with sunny spells overall but a possibility of a heavy shower at about 07:00 or 08:00. The wind is west but tending at times to NW, moderate and giving a high of 9C and a low of 0C tonight. The wind chill averages at -3C but could be -4C at times. Wrap up warm! The outlook is for similar weather until Friday when there could be some rain.
06:00. Back in the warm after a dry walk, padded shirt and Crombie. The sneaky wind is strong enough to send battalions of leaves scurrying along the ground, in case you hadn't noticed the leaf fall is well under way. The clocks went back last night giving us an hour nearer dawn so as we got near home there was enough light to see that there were large breaks in the cloud and a few stars peeping through. Barlick is as quiet as the grave....

Yesterday was dry but a bit disappointing because we only had a bit of sun and of course it was dark early, so a bit gloomy. At 20:00 it was dry, perfectly clear sky and cold. This morning it was the same, we almost certainly have a frost developing. Still the same now. The glass is up on 1021mb. The forecast is for a dry day with lots of sun. The wind is light and variable, starts in the west but finishes up in the east after tending to north all day. The high will be 8C and the low 0C with a -2C wind chill most of the day. We shall have frost! The outlook is for slightly warmer and cloudier weather after today with the possibility of light rain on Friday.
06:10. Dry, calm, crystal clear and a sharp frost. That about covers it. Any damp patches on pavements are slippy but the commando soles on my new boots make me feel very secure. This makes up for the disadvantages of them bringing stones into the house!
Only thing of note was the steam rising from the falling water on the weir in Butts, indicating the difference in temperature between the water and the cold air. Jack had a good morning, plenty of scent!

Yesterday was dry and cold, very acceptable! At 20:00 it was the same and first thing this morning hadn't changed. I've just looked out and it is still calm, clear and cold. The glass is up slightly on 1023mb and still rising slowly. The forecast is similar to yesterday, mostly clear, dry and cold all day. The easterly wind starts light and becomes moderate giving a high of 9C and a low of 2C with a noticeable wind chill all day. The outlook is for similar weather until Friday and Saturday when there is a chance of light rain. Wrap up warm and keep moving!
05:50. A quiet walk on a calm, dry, frosty morning. Some light scattered cloud is coming in from the east but not much. Windscreens will be scraped this morning.

It got a bit dull in the afternoon yesterday. At 20:00 it had cleared, a cold wind but dry. First thing this morning it was cold, dry and we had scattered cloud. At the moment it's calm and cold and there seems to be more cloud but it's hard to tell. The glass is up slightly to 1024mb and still rising very slowly. The forecast is for a brighter day than yesterday. The constant East wind starts light but soon rises to moderate giving a high of 9C and a low of 3C with a wind chill of as much as -4C at times depending on the wind strength. Bracing! Wrap up warm.....
06:00. A quiet walk under a cloudy sky, no stars visible and virtually calm. No frost but the Council have salted the roads, none during the sharp frosts the last two days. Dry and cold and as we neared home some large gaps in the cloud were coming in and some stars peeping out. Not a bad walk for late October! (Jack was a pain in the bum, the scent conditions must be good!)

Yesterday's brighter weather was welcome but it was cold. At 20:00 we had a clear sky and a cold wind. Same first thing this morning and I have just looked outside, we have less wind now but more overcast. The glass has fallen to 1018mb. The forecast is for a very similar day to yesterday. Dry and bright with some good sun. The constant easterly wind gives a high of 8C and a low of 6C tonight with a wind chill of up to -3C depending on wind strength. We could have a frost to start the day. Wrap up well again!
The small drop in pressure is the precursor of an Atlantic low that is moving towards the NE. This will bring in light rain later tonight and expect tomorrow to be milder but wet.
06:20. As it got lighter I saw the sky is clear. No frost yet. A very pleasant end of October walk!

It was a cold dry day and by 17:00 light cold rain had started. First thing this morning, calm and light rain, still the same. The glass has fallen sharply to 999mb and is still falling quickly, the Atlantic low has arrived! The forecast is for rain, possibly heavy, for the whole of the day. The wind is light and variable starting as ESE and settling in the South later tonight. The high will be 12C and the low 7C with a -2C wind chill. More rain tomorrow and then revering to cooler drier weather but lots of overcast. November weather! The next full moon is November 12th. The shortest day is December 22, not long now!
06:30. A wet walk to the butcher's and back! Almost calm, light continuous rain and cold fingers when they got wet. That's about it!
The shipping forecast seems to be pointing to a wet and much more windy day tomorrow.

It got dark early yesterday and by 20:00 we had heavy cold rain. First thing this morning it was dry but since then the wind has got up and we have serious rain again. The glass plunged violently during the night from 1000mb to 971mb and is still falling. The forecast is untidy. This rain is scheduled to cease and be followed by sunshine and scattered showers until late morning when more persistent heavier rain and thick overcast will take over for the rest of the day and spill over into Sunday. The wind is moderate and will swing all round the compass including North during the day ending up later as SW as the low passes over us. The high will be 8C and the low 6C with around -3C wind chill. Assume a sharp shower or heavier rain all day. After Sunday we have a chance of brighter colder weather. November weather!
06:15. The forecast was correct, when we went out just after 05:30 the rain had stopped but I took no chances, the Schoffel waterproof and hood over a padded shirt! As we walked round the mild west wind rose slightly and breaks in the cloud started to form. So we had a dry walk. Don't be fooled though, the rain will return and there won't be many fireworks tonight!
From the national forecast I suspect Tiz is having it much worse down in the West Country. The South is going to have a much windier day than us as the centre of the low moves over the South East heading for the North Sea.

The forecast yesterday was accurate, by 20:00 the sky was clearing and the rain had stopped. First thing this morning it was calm and dry but overcast and it's still the same as I write. The glass went down even further to 968mb and this morning is up slightly on 969mb, a very low value! The forecast is for it to be misty and overcast until about 13:00 when rain will come in again and last well into the night. Could dampen any fireworks that are left! The wind is light SW all day and gives a high of 9C and a low of 6C with as much as -3C wind chill in the middle of the day. It's another November day!
06:05. A dry walk on a calm morning, very misty but it's valley mist because as I walked through Valley Gardens a red-eye bound for Manchester came in overhead and its navigation lights were clearly visible through the fog.

Rain came in at noon as promised. At 20:00 it was still raining lightly. First thing this morning it was just starting raining again after a mainly dry night. Still calm and very light rain as I write. The glass has risen slightly to 973mb, still a very low value. The forecast is dead easy, light rain until about noon and heavy overcast thereafter. The light east wind gives a high of 8C and a low of 7C with a -2C wind chill all day. Once again, it's November!

Had a walk along the canal path at Greenberfield early in the afternoon, but it was very damp and drizzely and not good underfoot with all the wet leaves and muddy stretches. A few walkers on the towpath and one or two dog-walkers. Then walked part-way along Greenberfield Lane; a few more walkers passing me. Heavier showers through the afternoon, but feeling quite mild. Looking like colder weather on the way for Tuesday night with a touch of frost, and colder on Wednesday.

That rain in the afternoon was a bit of a surprise but we got off lightly. At 20:00 it was mild, calm and dry. Same this morning at the moment. The glass continued rising slowly yesterday and this morning is on 987mb, still low but an improvement. The forecast is for a dryer day but overcast and the chance of a light shower at any time. The mainly NE wind on the back side of the low is moderate and colder, high of 9C but a low of 1C with as much as a -4C wind chill so wrap up warm! The outlook is similar but colder.
06:15. Slightly surprised to find when I went out this morning in my Crombie to find we had a short sharp shower. I ignored it on the grounds the Crombie would cope. Calm, light rain and quiet. Not a bad walk at all.

Yesterday was as per the forecast. At 20:00 it was noticeably colder and the sky was clearing. This morning first thing it was frosty and calm under a perfectly clear sky. I've just popped me head out and it's the same except that some cloud is coming in. The glass rose all day yesterday and is on 1001mb and steady. The forecast is for cloud to increase all morning and rain to come in at dinnertime and persist all night. The very light wind is variable starting as NW but by mid morning swinging into the SE and rising slightly, this is what brings the rain in. The high will be 6C and the low 4C with a wind chill of as much as -3C as the SE wind comes in. The outlook gives rain tomorrow and then drier but little change in temperature. November weather so wrap up warm and be prepared for rain later.
06:00. Calm, frosty and increasing overcast. Enough wind to chill the ears and fingers but what Mother would have called 'bracing' and healthy weather. Could be the coldest morning this week.

Rain came in on schedule. At 20:00 it was overcast, calm and raining. Same first thing this morning but very light, still steady light rain as I write. The glass fell slowly all day yesterday and is steady now on 986mb. The forecast is simple, rain all day, heavy at times. The NE wind is constant and moderate gusting to 30mph. The high will be 7C and the low 5C with a -4C wind chill for most of the day. Outlook is for colder weather. Wrap up warm, it's November!
06:00. Back from a cold wet walk. The only plus point was the fact that the wind hadn't got up but it's starting now and the wind chill is kicking in. Wrap up warm or better still, stay indoors!
