Yesterday was another cloudy cool day. At 20:00 it was dry, cool and cloudy. No change this morning, we still have the cloud and it's dry and cool. The glass is rock steady and unchanged on 1017mb. The forecast, again, is cloudy and dry. The constant moderate SE wind gives us a high of 20C and a low of 15C with a slight wind chill this afternoon. The outlook is for this and better and could be a mini heat wave!
(Looks good for my visit to Clarion House if it happens!)

Yesterday afternoon was perfect weather for sitting outside with friends and family and enjoying the view. At 20:00 it had clouded over and first thing this morning we had light rain but that has stopped now. The glass has crept up 1mb to 1018mb and the forecast is for a dry day of sunny spells and bright overcast. The light wind starts in the east but works its way round to being a westerly during the day. We get a high of 21C and a low of 13C with negligible wind chill. The outlook is for some very hot sunny weather. September is giving us a treat!

It was very pleasant sitting in the square yesterday. At 20:00 it was dry, calm and mild but overcast. Still overcast this morning but dry and calm. The glass is rock steady on 1018mb and the forecast is for full sun all day. The very light eat wind swings to SW at noon and gives us a high of 25C and a low of 16C tonight with no wind chill. Tomorrow is forecast to be a re-run of today and the rest of the outlook is for good weather with sun and the occasional light shower. Indian Summer springs to mind.

Well it still is summer of course unless you are a meteorologist who likes to change the seasons conveniently on month ends. :extrawink: No regard whatsoever for the constant that is our rotation around our local star. 22nd September this year when Autumn starts proper. Until then I will appreciate late summer.

Yesterday was a nice day and very pleasant sat in the shade on bookie watch. At 20:00 we had lost the sun but it was calm and mild. Same this morning but cloudy. The glass is down a bit on 1014mb. The forecast promises us another day of full sun. The light to moderate SE wind gives us a high of 26C and a low tonight of 15C with negligible wind chill. The outlook is for cooler weather and perhaps thunder tomorrow.

Yesterday was very warm as promised but very pleasant if you were in the shade and had the benefit of the south wind. At 20:00 it was bright and calm but clouding over. This morning first thing we had light rain but that has stopped now. The glass is down on 1004mb and falling. The forecast is for sunny spells and showers, possibly thundery this afternoon. The wind will be light, starting in the east and finishing the day in the west. The high will be 21C and the low 16C with no wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather to today but no thunder. Nothing alarming in the forecast!

We’ve had a light shower earlier, but not enough to wet under the trees, not as hot as yesterday but very pleasant.

Unconfirmed report that the fire brigade are pumping out the cellar in the Irish Bar on Rainhall Road. That could be expensive, Pete had a lot of music equipment down there the last time I was in.

The rain must have been very localised, I noted it had rained but no great quantity.
Yesterday afternoon was close and we had thunder and rain around teatime. By 20:00 it had cleared and first thing this morning it is overcast, dry and mild and the flags are drying out. The glass is down a touch on 1003mb. The forecast is for a cloudy start changing to sunny intervals and light showers at noon. The light west or SW wind gives us a high of 19C and a low of 15C with negligible wind chill. The outlook is for slightly cooler but dry weather.

Much the same here Stanley, we could hear odd rumbles in the distance but had nothing heavy, just a light shower. Overcast this morning.

Lots of videos on the Barnoldswick Talk Facebook page, there looked to be a fair bit of rain in Barlick.

Quite a few properties affected by flooding too, a lot of it apparently due to poor gulley maintenance

I can't remember the last time I saw a grate cleaner in Barlick. There is a grate directly opposite our back gate on the gable of Bessie Street. It's totally solid and has been for as long as I can remember. Used to be common to see the cleaning wagon around town.

Not just in Barlick. This has finally been cleared but was like this for many years. I thought of planting some wildflower seeds for a while.

Very common David and in the days when I walked in all weathers with Jack I used to be able to identify the gulley grates that were blocked and reported them. It never made any difference because the contractors aren't interested in making sure the drain is clear, only ticking the box that says they have poked the snorkel down it. Are they paid on the number of drains visited?I'd say that over 20% of gulley grates are blocked.
Yesterday we had some loose showers in the afternoon but by 20:00 they had cleared and it was dry. I see this morning that there is evidence of a shower during the night. The glass has risen to 1007mb. The forecast is similar to yesterday, cloudy and light rain showers with sunny spells this afternoon. The west wind is moderate and gives a high of 17C and a low of 12C with a -2C chill. The outlook is for similar dull and perhaps drier weather.

Unfortunately LCC are no longer proactive with gulley cleaning, they are reliant on the public reporting them. There were some 'gullet suckers' out in Barlick yesterday, a bit late after the event...

I have always advocated having a wet weather inspector, that's the only time you can see the true state of the drains. If you watch the modern contractors doing the clearing they don't do what the old council gulpers used to do, a full bore flush of the drain with water from the sludge tank to ensure they were passing water properly. I think they are paid on numbers, or at least in a way where the pressure is to tick the drains off rather than be sure they are clear.
Yesterday afternoon was dull and close most of the time and at 20:00 the overcast was so heavy it was dark. There was some light under the cloud to the North. First thing this morning it was cool, calm, dry and overcast and that's not changed. The glass is up on 1014mb. The forecast is for a cloudy day but dry until late tonight. The mainly NW wind is light and gives us a high of 16C and a low of 11C tonight with a -1C wind chill. The outlook is for similar dull weather, no surprises or excitement!

Yesterday was dry on the whole but extremely dull. At 20:00 it was almost dark. This morning first thing there was a light breeze and it was cool, cloudy and dry. It's still the same but we have the odd large drop of rain. The glass has fallen to 1012mb and is still falling. The forecast is for light rain all day until early evening. The moderate East wind is constant and gives a high of 15C and a low of 12C tonight with a -1C chill. The outlook is for similar weather, nothing exciting!

Yesterday the rain came late, fine rain from about 13:00 onwards. At 20:00 it was calm but still raining. First thing this morning it was dry, calm and we had broken cloud. I've just popped out and no change. The glass is down a touch on 1010mb. The forecast is for a misty start then dry with sunny intervals all day. The wind starts as NW but then settles as a west wind and is light all day. We have a high of 18C and a low of 12C with very little wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather.

Yesterday afternoon was pleasant and sunny. At 20:00 it was bright and the sky was clear. First thing this morning it was calm, cool and we had light rain. It is still damp but has started to dry up. The glass is up on 1012mb. The forecast is for the cloud to clear soon and we will have a dry bright day with sunny spells. The mainly SW wind is light to moderate and gives a high of 18C and a low of 12C with almost no wind chill. The outlook is for similar weather, still no nasty surprises.

Yesterday afternoon was again very pleasant but by 20:00 it was calm and clouding over. First thing this morning it was dead calm, mild and dry, it's still the same. The glass is down slightly on 1009mb. The forecast is for a dry clouded day but with good sunny spells. The constant light southerly wind gives a high of 19C and a low of 12C with up to -2C chill this afternoon. The outlook is for similar weather but perhaps cloudier for the next five days.
