I could understand steamed chicken, or boiled chicken.

Son says the dog grinned ear to ear when she saw her dinner and “hoovered” it up!
( after scaring him to death thinking he would have to put her down).
Gosh...stressful...I am going to have a glass of wine...( bloody dogs! )

Who doesn't like the odd takeaway? Glad the doggy enjoyed his dinner, I wonder if he realised he dodged the bullet? Good news anyway Maz.

This dog has been on borrowed time for over 6 months now. Yet the tail still wags, the eyes are bright and she still likes a shuffle round the park. Her thyroid is gone, kidneys aren’t good, and she has terminal heart disease.
I think she deserves takeaway!

Good to hear that all is well for Abby.
Feeding her on roast chicken will add up to another small fortune. It must be love.

Haven’t had an update since this morning, when son reported her as a bit quiet and she needed encouragement to drink.

We all know what they are going through. Eventually they will have to bite the bullet but you can't tell anyone to do that. I wish them (and the dog!) the best of luck.

5.30 pm and she finally had her first wee for the day. She isn’t interested in BBQ chicken for tea. She has enjoyed peaceful sleep all day though ( except when son regularly held her water bowl under her nose and encouraged her to drink). She is not in distress, or pain, so he said he will give her overnight to see if she bounces back, but will take her to the vet for further advice in the morning if she hasn’t improved. He knows...the writing is on the wall now. He would take her tonight, but he insists she isn’t suffering or in any pain, he wants to let sleep provide what it can and take a view in the morning.

Dog is in hospital on IV antibiotics. She was refusing all food and fluids. The vet still feels it is Colitis, and should pull through, though she is yet to have blood tests and an X-ray. ( vet bill tonight was £500)

Abby’s kidneys have failed. Son will make his way to the vet this morning and cuddle her while they put her to sleep.

The dog is not suffering now. That's the only way to think about it. There comes a time.....

All good here...son needed a lot of support yesterday...but he will get through it...we all do eventually.
He did say “No more dogs”. That is the choice I made too, but I think one day he will find he has healed enough to take on another.

Son sent me a pic today and I see he still has all her toys scattered about. He finds comfort from them and can’t bear to chuck them just yet. He will get there. We all need varying amounts of time ( he tells me there is still water in her water bowl). But he is working forward. I do see progress, so I am sure he will be in a different place in a few days.

It didn't take me long this time to erase all signs of Jack's presence. In fact I almost made myself poorly by too much clearing out and cleaning. The vacuum is still picking hairs up but that will be true for many weeks.
Almost feels treacherous to say it but I am getting used to the greater freedom.

I know. I am waiting for him to see the positives. He will. At some point he will become aware that things hurt a little less.
