Waiting to hear that this fabulous new lass is settling in and giving Sparky some distraction.
Poor old Sparky. I imagine he is feeling the loss off his dear old stable mate.

Well! The gorgeous Minnie arrived today and she is a stunner. I was too overwhelmed to take photos this morning though there is a video on my Facebook page taken by Becky. Sparky thinks she is gorgeous too, which is a bit of a problem because his manhood was stirred ( despite his manhood being removed over 30 years ago) and he spent a couple of hours attempting to mount her. :nooo: :nooo:
I had to bring them back in to prevent any harm being done, she has large feet and a good kick.....

Hee hee. I did wonder..... He'll soon settle down and stop being a nuisance. (I speak as an expert in these matters...)
Glad it's going well Wendy.

Maybe Sparky is just trying to dominate Minnie because she is a female, and he is saying that he is boss.

Lovely Wendy. No big problems there and perhaps as well they are limited to how much they can be outside at the moment.

Yes Stanley, as long as they are stuck in their stables there is no problem. I never like keeping them in for long periods but neither of these two seem to mind, it was Dennis who went stir crazy.

That's what Isadore Kerman's mum used to say to him. Must have sunk in as he named a horse KYBO which stood for Keep Your Bowels Open. Tried to find a link, but failed - it was a long time ago.

That's interesting David but I have to come clean, I looked it up and found I had it wrong. Here's the relevant bit from me memoirs.... (totally off piste. Sorreee!)

One of my favourite trips out was up to Halifax, we had a bunch of customers in the Ripponden, Stainland area. Smithie Brothers at Stainland always fascinated me, they farmed together and were a typical close-knit Yorkshire farming family. If you were in you were in but if you fell out with one you fell out with the lot. I always got on well with them and used to suit them by always backing into the yard for either unloading or lifting cattle. They said I was the only wagon of that size that ever attempted it! I was struck by how clean their cows lay in winter in the byre and asked Jim Smithie once how he managed it, his reply was short and to the point; “Keep their muck stiff Stanley!”
They had a famous neighbour at Stainland Hall, Lord Joseph Kagan of Gannex fame. He was a mate of Harold Wilson the Prime Minister and thought himself no end of a man. The Smithie Brothers had rented some of the Stainland Hall land for years and made Kagan an offer to buy it. He mucked them about for months and one night Jim and Roy decided they had had enough, they marched down to the hall, went straight in through the front door and into the dining room where a smart dinner party was going on. In no uncertain terms they told Lord Kagan what they thought about him and where he could shove his land! With that they walked out and forgot it until about a fortnight later they got a message from the noble lord’s solicitors to say that their offer was accepted and the land was theirs. This method of dealing with matters was entirely typical of them, they went straight to the point. They always had a bad name for Kagan, they said he was a wrong un and of course in the end they were proved right, Kagan was gaoled in 1980 for stealing from his own companies.

PS every day I vow to use the interweb less, and do something more useful.
Every day I fail. Look at the nonsense I'm posting today for instance. Still - in comparison with doing an all white 1000 piece jigsaw, I suppose I'm being quite productive.

Meanwhile - I have several far more interesting matters going on, but have decided to keep them personal and private, It's driving me crazy! I'll tell you one day. :laugh5:

They are getting used to being next door to each other in the barn. I put them out in the snow on Friday and there was lots of fun and excitement but no one suffered any damage. I can't blame Sparky entirely for the inappropriate activity, Minnie was very encouraging. They had another day inside yesterday as there was water everywhere as the snow melted but I'm putting them out today... just hoping the field can take It!

Wendy, as far as those two are concerned everything they do is totally appropriate so you'd better get used to it.
I know what you mean about the worry the paddock could poach. It can do so much damage to the sward. The bad news is we have three days rain coming after today.

Tomorrow looks ok till later in the day, so I might get them out again. Here's a pic I took just after I put them out on Friday. Sparky was still calling for Dennis, and thought one of the sheep in the next field might be him.

I find that so sad as well Wendy. He'll get over it and the memory will fade but they have feelings and you have to feel sorry for them.
Lovely pic and I have pinched a copy of it for the kids.

It takes a while for a creature to stop missing a mate/owner.
When we used to look after my son’s dog for up to three weeks at a time, she was just so damn sad at times...despite walks, cuddles, good food, play time with tug toys etc.
Always mystified me, because she was alone quite a lot with son working shift work.
I think it comes down to familiar smells. Son always left a well worn ( unwashed) jumper, which I put in her bed if she was a bit sad. I think it worked, as she responded. She would curl up on that and relax.

I was having another look at Minnie and she is a lovely sort for pulling a small two wheel cart like a rag and bone man or a fruiterer. What breed would you describe her as Wendy?
