HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Let’s face it, wedding rings are a waste of gold in the long run these days. I preferred to make my commitment without such ornament. And we shall soon celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
You can have real love, without the frippery.
I just wanted a true heart. I did not care for anything beyond that.

A friend of mine wore a wrist watch with a spring type bracelet. One day he was poking around under his Volvo F86 dashboard trying to run a cable for some new gizmo he was installing and his watch bracelet shorted across a couple of connections. The bracelet glowed red hot and he ripped it off his wrist. What a mess, there was a circular deep burn completely round his wrist.Stanley wrote: ↑28 Oct 2020, 04:14 Today's tip. If you can avoid it never wear a wrist watch. Like rings and bracelets they can get caught in machinery.
That's why I like to have a clock visible in every room and if my oven or microwave has one I shall activate and maintain it. All I have to do is lift my eyes and I know the time.
I was told by a factory inspector that a bloke lost his finger after slipping 2 rungs down a ladder and getting his finger ring caught. Could have been the same bloke you met, Stanley.

Mine's been on for just short of 40 years, I've not managed to damage myself with it yet

Look after your kids and perhaps they'll look after you!
If they don't treat you well, no point whingeing. You reared them!
If they do, perhaps you did something right.

Gold rings - chemists and anybody else using mercury has to take care not to let the mercury make contact with the ring. Mercury forms an amalgam with the gold and discolours the ring.

IKf you want to report something don't bother with the Pendle web site, it's useless. I suspect deliberately so.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
What are you reporting? The Pendle Council website seems fairly straightforward to report stuff...
https://www.pendle.gov.uk/request_a_service
If it's street lighting that needs reporting to LCC.
https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/roads-par ... reetlight/
The https://www.fixmystreet.com/ link is a charity funded 'forwarding' site. It just forwards the information on to council email addresses, looking at it there seems to be the option for councils to integrate it...

We have more reporting sites than you can shake a stick at. It should still be done via LCC as it gets attention quicker.

Despite the fact I evidently did everything wrong the fault has been logged and passed on and I have been notified so I must have done something right!
If you cook for yourself there's a lot of mileage in looking back at the old recipes and giving them a trot out occasionally. I did it this week with old-fashioned mince and onions. Just like my mother used to make!

Mrs Tiz treated us to pig's cheeks last night - perhaps I should have posted this in the Flatley Dryer thread!

Just the sort of thing I was thinking about Peter. Well done Janet!
It looks as though we are going to be treated to another grey back end day today. I always find the best way to look at days like this is that it's one more day chipped off winter and we are not having severe weather so it's a gift!

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Mail this morning that the site I reported the lights out is not working. I went out to the the LCC site for reporting lights out that are are out but the lights in the coop car park lights are not listed. Can anyone tell me how you post the lights out in the Pioneer Car Park?

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
As the affected lights are not on the LCC 'Report it' map it looks like the only option is to call the Highways Department 0300 123 6780 and explain where the lights are. It's a public car park so Highways should be responsible for them.
There doesn't look to be an email address for them that I can find.

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Thanks Kev, that's the conclusion I came to.
Shortly afterwards. I spoke to a very nice lady at LCC who agreed with me that there was a problem with how to report the lights. She put me through to Pendle and warned me not to be fobbed off with the online site. It took a while of automatic connections but in the end I talked to a human and was put through to the section in charge of car park lighting. The Lady agreed with me that there was a reporting problem but she asked me if I knew exactly what the problem was and I explained it to her. She asked me to identify exactable which lights were out as she said they didn't know. I did that and she said I had rung at exactly the right time because the contractors were going to look at the problem this afternoon. She said she will pass on my information to them.
Let's see what happens now!

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
I forgot to mention that the lady at Pendle said the reason why the fault hadn't been picked up was because nobody was inspecting when it was dark as that was outside normal hours. I leave it up to you to work out the logic behind that. With lights only inspected in daylight and not on the Council map for identification they were doomed to be off!

Sounds like you have done half the job for LCC.
They’ll have you up the ladder or cherry-picker next, to finish their job.
