Other counsellors are available - Counselling
The outcome was I was invited to supper on Sunday night. Feeling a bit guilty that they'd suffered enough, I offered a return fixture so Mr and Mrs Poet are coming over tonight together with our German Lady friend who lives at the other end of the village. Also an occasional poet.
It'll be good - just hope they leave their ****** dogs at home.

Looks like Mrs Poet prefers beer to wine, now't wrong with that of course. Glad you had a nice night.

Looks cozy...
Always nice to get together with close friends, a good meal, a few drinks...to gossip and “ruin a few reputations”
Did you have pudding?

Well once you imagine Tripps in there too, I don’t think any of them have hysterically happy facades....
Serious folk. Probably wouldn’t enjoy us as dinner guests.....we tend to love a laugh...
They must be lovely in warm in front of that radiator though ( hubby and I would be down to T-shirts and undies in front of THAT heat)....

But it wouldn't be below freezing outside Maz.
I think you are making a big assumption there about laughter. I think that they are just as capable of having a good laugh as any of us! I stand to be corrected by David but don't think it is very likely.

I'll bet your dinners are top of everybody's party list.
Which reminded me of the song....
I Don't Look Good Naked Anymore by The Snake Oil Willie
Question for Tripps, What make of table is that? Advertising not allowed. It reminded me of our old kitchen table way back in the 1940s . A good old fashion table that will last for ever.

Table and chairs look identical to ours although ours is a six seater. We have seven matching chairs, six for the table and one with arms for the computer. Can't remember where we got it though, it was over 30 years ago!

Same here, only we had to get rid of the chairs as they took up too much room in the kitchen. Bought in Scotland back in the mists of time. All the finish scrubbed off the top though!

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
We have a similar table. Used to be our only dining table and we have crowded 10 around it at times. Nowadays it resides upstairs and had become my computer desk. Family members look at it in complete disbelief when I point it out and they remember meals at it. We rubbed shoulders I can tell you. Good times though!
We have a huge dining table now.
But that is not the point is it? I had more fun times around the small one than we have ever had round the bigger one.
We have never had a poet at our table....lots of bullshit from our kids...but never a poet.
( mine looks the same Wendy, and we squeezed 10 around it on occasion. I had to sit on my sewing stool at one corner)

I wonder how the North Italians are going on with their 1-metre apart restriction on restaurants?

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
Well - that got a good response didn't it?
The beer was Timothy Taylor's 'Landlord' - about the best bottled beer you can get I'd say.
No reputations came anywhere near being ruined on the night.
The room temperature was comfortable.
Mr Poet brought the afters. Chocolate brownie with Swedish vegan ice cream. Made from Soya and totally dairy and gluten free - though no one present has any food hang ups or allergies - does no harm to be 'on trend' .
The table was from my usual supplier Gumtree. Timeless classic - cost with chairs about £30.
The photo was bit stern wasn't it - taken before proceedings started. I offer this as evidence that we can laugh. I even managed to squeeze out an enigmatic smile myself. We do laugh. . .
That's yet another poet from Middlesborough via Stoke on Trent.

My table is G Plan, second hand £20, 25 years ago. No dining chairs, used as company HQ.

Our dining table and chairs, and sideboard, are all G-Plan and we've had them for over 40 years. Excellent stuff!

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
I bought the G Plan dressers, sideboards, bookshelves and bedroom furniture when I was setting up in King Street after my divorce many years ago. As you say Tiz, excellent quality and actually made of wood!
Today's tip. Ignore reports that if you are 84, have cancer and diabetes and smoke into the bargain you are going to die! Not true, why don't they say that we have an 80% chance of surviving which is equally true?

Today's tip. If you are a man in a position of power take note of the 23 year sentence on Epstein. Your position isn't gong to protect you in the US justice system at least! Good

Re: HOUSEHOLD TIPS NOT FOUND IN WOMAN'S WEEKLY
There are plenty more like him out there!
Don’t forget that we grew up in the welfare system. Kids were vulnerable and fair game with no one they could confide in and be believed. One day the lid will blow off the whole thing.
And I am sure it is still happening.
There were people I refused to leave my son with even for a few hours, because once your senses kick in, you cannot ignore them. Might seem strange to most folk, but you have to go with your gut.
Anyway...different market...this was an adult thing but in the end it always comes down to POWER.
