"And I am sure it is still happening."
I'm afraid you are right Maz. You are both right and of course have experience of it yourselves. I often think about your story and realise how lucky I have been during my life.

In view of the current situation I can do no better than the wartime slogan (1939) which was never actually widely used but has survived. "Keep calm and carry on". (LINK)

Think through the possible consequences of the pandemic and take your best guess at what will affect you. Then take what measures you can to avoid it. It's a time for personal responsibility.

Remember 'Life of Bryan' and always look on the bright side. A large proportion of medical opinion states that having a positive attitude is an important component in fighting any infection. Look at the number of times we have been told that 'Laughter is the best medicine!' So ignore the doomsayers, open THIS link and have a sing along as you wash your hands.

He is banned from drinking red wine unless he wears a puddle suit and sits on a 5x5 metre plastic drop sheet.... :biggrin2:

We use tissues. Handkerchiefs are dirty things ( someone has to handle them and wash them).

Noy much bog roll either...
Hankies got boil washed in carbolic soap (or coal tar). I presume Shambles has a variety of traditional block soaps (Red, Yellow, Green - was not one used for wooden floors and you can make your own soap flakes for the copper on the boil by shaving the soap?). Down south its four times the price , highly perfumed and from Lush.

Modern women cannot be bothered boiling hankies ( or whites). Some modern lasses I have met cannot boil an egg!
Well we might, if we didn’t have to work full time!
( not that I work full time...but really!...you expect me to handle something you blow your nose in? That is an insult)

Special offer on at the walk in hair dressers, Discount for dying over 70s men's hair back to black, with further reductions for those with not much of it.
Its said to be in response to those wishing to sneak into the pub when the curfew sets in. Personally I think arriving with a zimmer frame is a dead giveaway.

At the start of the Wuhan outbreak there was a pic of some people on the street wearing knee-length, loose poly bags over their heads. They wouldn't suffocate because the bags were very big and loose but at least they could avoid direct contact and being splashed by sneezes or coughs. I'll be there's someone selling them for $100 each on the web!

I've got a pair of rubber gloves by the front door because I'm expecting a courier delivery today. I'll wear the gloves to collect the parcel and if I need to sign with a pen. (Just think of all these people doing deliveries and pressing doorbells - I hope they wear gloves.)

Maz, blow your nose on the dirty washing already in the machine! No handling and it's going to get sterilised with no waste beyond the washing up water. There are worse things in there than a bit of clean snot!
Tiz, when I finish in the shed I walk Jack for second walk before breakfast and bed. I leave my shed gloves (Single use plastic) on and discard them when I get back. Makes sense....
Today's tip is keep your nose clean, your back warm, your feet dry and your bowels open! Good grub and short finger nails help as well!

In addition to the excellent advice we are all getting about hand washing as a defence against Covid19 don't forget the old stand-bys, deep breathing good fresh air and making sure you drink plenty of clean water, keep your finger nails well trimmed and do everything you can to preserve a positive attitude.
All things that have done us such good service in the past.

The best I can do this morning is tell you what I have done. I have done a deep clean of my chopping board, surfaces and other frequently used items with a weak bleach and soap solution. During the process my hands got a good soaking in the solution and so they have been sterilised as well. To finish off I mopped the floor with the same solution. I know that only means clean and reasonably sterile for a short time but at least it has been done!

That is more than fine, Stanley, unless you have a large group of unruly school kids come and sneeze over ever surface of your kitchen and trample your floor...
