Just come back from Skipton. A lot better with it shut off. I cant see the problem there is a workaround for traffic from Carolyne Square and also if you are approaching from the top of the High Street, all the car parks are accessible so what's the problem?

Far better with it closed off. Susan and I had a nice walk round yesterday in Skipton High Street and environs.

Our Carla's last night for a double whammy. Ant's Birthday which is early next week and a Patio Party to celebrate the completion of their new patio on their gable end property.

They are having a bit of a tussle with the neighbour across the road who has taken exception to the fence they put up. The patio is raised at least a metre above the pavement below so it has to have some kind of barrier for safety. Previously the entire garden was surrounded by a two to three meter high one meter thick privet hedge which surrounded the property on two sides. That was taken out as part of the redevelopment plan for their extension to the house and to get the necessary plant and machinery in. They replaced it with a two meter high tanalised timber fence. The house sits on a corner and removing the hedge has created an extra meter on the pavement at the corner and increased the visibility out at the road junction. It has also maximised space on their footprint. The whole project has had planning permission and has been executed to a very high standard. The extension has been done in reclaimed stone to match the existing row. Retaining wall for the patio has been built to the same standard. Materials there were not specified so they could have done it in considerably cheaper red brick but they didn't. They spent an extra £1000 to build it in keeping with the the rest of the development. It's new and the bloke across doesn't like it and has complained, all the other neighbours have complimented them on the standard of the work and how good it looks, now't a queer as folk. Anyway it looks like they are going to have to chop a couple of feet off the top of the fence on the raised patio. That will give them a perfect view into the complainants property. Unintended consequences comes to mind. He will probably complain about that next.

This is where Margaret and Mick are today, the Super Pit at Kalgoorlie. (LINK) It's a big hole and Peter might like the geological detail in the link.

Just found out that they were on a day out. Margaret drove just short of 700km! That's a short trip for them out there......

Susan said that she enjoyed Bancroft because it was all the sights, sounds and smells of childhood. All the kids used to visit me and spent hours in the engine house. Do you think that would be allowed today?

My daughter and two friends are spending a few days trekking at Wilpena Pound in our Flinders Ranges (about 440k’s from Adelaide, a 5hr drive)

Pic 1 - before climbing St Mary Peak (1,171 metres high)

Pic 2 - Atop the peak

Pic 3 - After climbing and back to the start

They advise that the trek will take 9hrs, the girls did it in 7hrs and 40minutes.

Well done girls 😊

Also a pic of Alligator Gorge

Gill Cemetery making hay while the sun shone also known as the annual remembrance cross distribution. I have done 75% or so of the Cemetery before it started to rain. Before I came away I had a quick glep at the Churchyard now that it has been mowed and strimmed. Should be a bit easier getting round but I noticed there was an awful lot of leaves which will help to hamper.

Skipton, shopping in the sales for our mutual Christmas presents. We both needed new Softshell layer three jackets for walking. Sally found one she liked in Mountain Warehouse nice vibrant colours with a detachable hood, reduced from £79.0 to £39.00, nothing for me there though. I got mine which is one produced by Ayacucho, polyester and elastane, wind proof and shower proof. the materials are partly composed of recycled plastic bottles. £70.00 reduced to £49.00 from Cotswold Outdoor. Fit to trot now.

Skipton yesterday, a wander about and a chippy lunch. It wasn’t busy and there were only half the market stalls.
