Two types of Lurpak butter type stuff (its blended with Rapeseed Oil), one a lighter 'less fat' blend.
Reported as being in Asda at £6 per tub. This is for 1Kg (thats about 2.2 Lb). Some report this is rather a large amount to spend in inflationary times. However a quick mental calculation is that butter for most households we used to buy off the block at half a pound - which works out about £1.40. Most own brand 250gr Tubs seem to be on sale for about £1. so the extra is really the 'brand premium' which is about what it has been for many years. Question is whom is buying these 1Kg tubs ? I know there are large families but a whole kilo barely fits in my fridge. Larger families in Nelson for example tend to buy from the Asian retailers the 2.5kg round tubs of butter at a cheaper prorata price !

Many people won't realise how far the `fat spreads' have deviated from butter, which contains 80% fat. This shows the range of fat contents...
A general term for bread spreads (yellow fats), including butter, margarine, and low-fat spreads. Reduced fat spreads contain not more than 60% fat, and low-fat spreads not more than 40%, compared with 80% fat in butter and margarine. Very low-fat spreads contain less than 20% fat, and some as little as 5%. Oxfor Reference web page

It makes you wonder what replaces the fat. Much of it's water, held in by emulsifiers.

See THIS BBC report for the latest on the Johnson crisis.
What strikes me is that Johnson keeps referring to his 'mandate' from the people. Question, if the GE was to be rerun would he still have that mandate today? Of course he wouldn't! The bald truth is that he is now totally discredited and rejected even by his own ministers and party. All he is doing is prolonging the agony and in the end he is going to be dragged kicking and screaming to the exit. I can't help but think he must be under some sort of delusion.

He doesn't have a popular mandate, he governs at the behest of the Tory party. Trump had more right to claim a popular mandate than Johnson.

‘Cloud seeding’, first I’ve heard of it.
I don’t know how the flood affected cope, time after time. Heartbreaking stories. I do wonder how many will leave our east coast. I would.
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

Remember the Lynmouth flood Peter? I seem to remember the conspiracy theorists said that was a result of experimental cloud seeding......

The fact that I have finally persuaded British Gas to invoice me for energy used since February..... I am not clapping hands yet, I shall do that when I see £485 go out of my account!

More than very nice I'd say - (it's late ) - mine is about a hundred times bigger, but right now I'd swap.

See Sue's remarks on 'Today I shall be mainly...' about fast overgrowing gardens. Very true. . . . :laugh5:

And there was me with a mental picture of you in a big floppy hat doing a bit of weeding and dead-heading. :biggrin2:
I've just realised that tomorrow is the 90th anniversary of the Barlick flood. (Is that right Kev? July 11th 1932)

Later .... I hear that Denmark has a scheme whereby people can donate bikes and they are given to Ukrainian refugees. What a sensible and practical way to help people, contrast with our 'hostile climate' approach to refugees. I think it's fairly certain that something as enlightened and sensible like this has never entered the head of Priti 'Orrible......

Air Ambulance just landed the other side of Taylor Street after circling for a while. Probably on Monkroyd or thereabouts.

It looked to be landing at the back of Hope Technology.

Just taken off again 11.25 heading West.

Most transfers now are under the fasterpayments technology, so it might be in bank now (avalible as funds from tomorrow I think the technology allows for a recall before end of day in case of errors / some receiving banks hold your money as theirs for up to a working day
