He hasn't shown that it was installed right next to a rubbish bin! It was suggested when the first pictures went up a couple of weeks ago that they moved the bin. I will have to have look to see if they have done that when I go out on town. We used to have public drinking fountains in both of our public parks. When I suggested putting the Jubilee Fountain back to it''s original use for (animals), I was told the H&S issues were insurmountable. :dontgetit:

Yes- I vaguely read about the difficulties in providing a public drinking water fountain - so I was a bit surprised to see this one. I'll put the picture in again as we've turned a page and few will see it where it is. I think I recognise where it is situated, and would think that the benefits of the fountain would outweigh the proximity to a bin? I bet the donkeys aren't bothered

I don't get the objection to the fountain being next to a litter bin.
I congratulated the man on the condition of his donkeys yesterday, they are in show condition and a credit to him.
What's grabbing me today is that we are all going to Keighley to be railway children on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, Lunch in Haworth. Return trip concession fare is £17. Cheap at half the price.
By coincidence I saw Jenny Agutter in an episode of New Tricks last night..... :biggrin2: Bordering on David's spooky.

Flies and Wasps. You wouldn't eat your dinner next to a bin by choice if there was an alternative. :extrawink:

I have never noticed more flies and wasps round the bins in the square..... and I sit there every day.
I enjoyed my trip to Haworth. Bus from station to bottom of the hill and I managed the walk up to the Fleece where we had lunch. Kids decided I would be alright walking back to the station downhill by a short cut. :surprised: It was the walk from hell, steep downhill, rough setts and a lot further than anybody expected. I survived. Just.
Good trip out with the kids. I set a tab up for drinks and lunch. It cost me an arm and a leg. Another disadvantage to living for too long! (But I'd do it again tomorrow....)

The fact that we have lunch today at the Pick hill pub and will be joined by Janet's daughter Yiota and her man. I haven't see Yiotsie for a few years so it will be a red letter day. I think the idea is to treat me today so my wallet will not get a battering like it did on Friday!

We're glad you're enjoying yourselves and getting as much as possible out of the visit! :good:

Some lovely photos and lovely creatures in this short video and the man is doing a great job helping insects and spiders to get more loved! I assume the `bonnet' around his lens is to focus light on the object...

I've just seen our local weather forecast - tomorrow 27C, Tuesday 29, Wednesday 30, Thursday 32, Friday 33 then it slowly goes down to 23 in the week after that. That's too hot for us!

We're off to Bodelwyddan Castle for a few days next weekend, forecast is for 30 degrees Friday and Saturday. I suspect most of the day will be in the pool, a good 10 degrees cooler than a few weeks ago when we were in Kent though.

Yesterday afternoon we had these four flying above us a few times, any ideas, there were no air shows going on around us?
Excuse poor photo, did it with my mobile.

Nothing obvious Gloria, they must have been flying too low to get picked up on radar.

A short but dramatic video...
`Flash flooding swamps California's Death Valley' LINK
Nearly 1,000 people were left stranded in California's Death Valley National Park after a record-breaking amount of rainfall. Staff and visitors were temporarily unable to leave as all roads in and out of the area were closed.

That is a very rare event in Death Valley! Good publicity for Biden's new legislation, he can point at that and say "I told you so!"
