It was unknown in my world Kev. In fact a proper lunch break was unknown for many years. Start when you like and finish when you can so we went at it all day.

It's almost unbelievable isn't it. Are there any bounds to man's ingenuity in matters like this?
Naive question. Why can't we be as good at running our world?

Yesterday actually. I emailed my roofer Matt Swinscoe, (Mass Roofing) on Saturday late afternoon as we had a slate off on the small pitched portion of the kitchen roof. He was on the job yesterday morning at 9am and as well as the one that had split and come off he has replaced four others that were a bit dodgy, proper good service from a reliable local trader. :good:

Do you know.... I heard a noise I couldn't identify last night and I'll bet that was it Wendy. A roaring noise, different than other aircraft, in fact I thought it might be a very noisy wagon.
Peter, I heard a news report that the local authority is considering extinguishing the fire in the crater which is believed to be man-made. (LINK)

It was a roar Stanley and it was heading towards Barlick. It came over again in the other direction around 11pm just as we were going to sleep and it sounded like the end of the world was coming! It did 2 circuits from Mildenhall.

I've discovered a bit more about the Ospreys, Nick Livesy is a mine of information! There are low flying exercises going on all week called Epic Totem, the Ospreys are heading for RAF Spadeadam near Brampton in Cumbria, low flying over the Lake District, Bowland Fells and Yorkshire Dales.

Double Whammy today, looks like the game could finally be up for Boris, not before time and it also looks like the Duke of York is going to be bounced into Civil Court on sexual charges. High Court has rejected his appeal.

I note the Co-op isn't mentioned in the recall Kev, they must not deal with Bakeaway.
Question, how can Salmonella survive the temperatures used in baking pastry?

Might it be to do with handling the pastry before baking?

That was my conclusion too. And it wouldn't surprise me if some folk were eating the stuff raw. It's amazing what some people do! When I was a student in Liverpool my parasitology lecturer had worked at the School of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene. She had proved that regular outbreaks of beef tapeworm in the city were due to men insisting their wives gave them raw beef in their sandwiches. And it got worse as we got more immigrants who often were not familiar with our foods.

That would explain it. I was lucky, my mother brought me up to appreciate 'thorough cooking'. I can still hear her saying "It isn't burnt, it's just well done!"
What grabbed my attention was the collapse of Prince Andrew's world. (Can you imagine what Brenda's opinion must be?) and the fact that Susan come this morning to give me a pedicure. She's so good at it! This is far more important to me than the troubles of a spoiled brat who thought he was entitled to freebies like luxury jet travel.

I saw an advert last night that I had to scream at the TV over. It was one of the supermarkets who were making a big thing about their 21 day old beef. It then cut to an image of a "cooked" dish with said beef, but it was essentially raw! I had to shout at the telly, "if you have gone to the bother of maturing the beef for three weeks the very least you can do is give it a few hours in the oven"!

I like all my meat proper dead. :extrawink:

Couldn't agree more Ian. I reckon a lot of the under-cooking is down to chefs not wanting to keep customers waiting so they can get more covers through in a serving. Easiest way is to persuade them that rare or even blue is chic and sophisticated. Remember what Peter said about beef tape worms yesterday?
What really grabbed me yesterday was that it was possible for Susan and I to sit out on the benches in the Town Square with coffee and chips half way through January! It looks as though it will be possible today as well.
