Actually, I intended - and thought I had shown - quite the opposite. :laugh5:

I thought David had made it clear China. Later in the year you will really hear me and others get into gear about the evils of Brexit. The farmers and fishermen are only the first symptoms.
What attracted my attention is the fact that one of my grand daughters is with child so the third great grandchild is on his or her way!

Sorry, my 'blame Brexit comment' was aimed at Ian because he said "that was more of a political statement against a nation" - I only say these things in fun, I know nobody takes me seriously! :biggrin2:

Word is that Great Grandson Kahara seems to have understood he is to be a big brother because he has redoubled his efforts to grab all the attention. His latest trick is to climb on top of the table via a chair..... I'm glad I don't have to guard him!

How cold it is outside and the fact we have a wind from the north. I know we spend too much time on the weather in Britain but it really is a cold start to the summer this year. That wind was really cold yesterday as I sat on the form opposite the bookies watching people.
Our weather often changes with the full moon. We have one tomorrow. Let's hope it brings a change for the better.

A fixed penalty notice for speeding...
37mph in a 30 limit, hands up guv'nor it was me. Guilty as charged.
They must have had a good day as there were several cars, on the dual carriageway, all doing the same speed as me.
I've provided my licence details so I can be considered for 'driver retraining' instead of 3 points and a £100 fine.
First time for everything :biggrin2:

I'm catching up. . . .

You raised my hopes there Ian with that comment, but I've seen no follow up news.

Just seen the British entry. I think he did well to get zero.

I saw a morbidly obese unshaven scruffbag who forgot to take his leather overcoat off when he came indoors. He also couldn't sing. I see he's from Settle, but that's really irelevant.

I wonder how he got the gig? I'm afraid I have never had any interest in the Eurovision song contest. Come to that I have never seen the point of Eurovision.

I've mentioned this before, how many of you have ever wondered how theatres and cinemas got their names? See THIS website for a little light on the subject. I also learned from my furtling that Essoldo comes from Esther, Solomon & Dorothy Schenkman. I remember when the Carlton in Stockport was taken over and changed its name.

Moon looked fairly new and large last night (well 4am today). Looks like its dragged the jet stream a bit north bring up some southern warmth en route.

Has the Dual Carriageway speed been reduced lately - sometimes its due to side roads, a slower speed should allow a safer exit and crossing.

One of the Post WW2 things like town twinning and NATO. to give some kind of peace and reconciliation on a more personal and corporate level. The European Broadcasting Union generally contained the State - backed broadcasters (dont know if independent commercial licenced ones were included as full or associate members). Much was/is a technical sharing and a bit of a directors jolly junket out for a week away conferences. The radio element was also part of it, I recall Radio 2 doing 'Pop over Europe' which was a cross between Eurovision Song Contest and Juke Box Jury, the countries voted on a selected new release disc to give it the best of the week (or was it month ?)

It was Westway in Burnley. My own stupid fault, it's not a bit of road I've used before so just followed the traffic. I should have been paying attention and looking at the road signs.

Difficult sometimes to hold your speed down on uphill gradients you tend to listen to the engine rather than watch the speedometer. Going down that stretch is just one mad road race.
Travelled up from Padiham to Gannow Top the other day. Road was quiet with just a learner in front doing a steady 30 mph. We were overtaken by five cars each doing well over 40 mph. Every one knew what they were doing. Open road get your foot down. And when the learner passes their test guess what?

I was caught a few years ago doing 46 in a temporary 40mph finalised and abandoned road works coming off the Thelwall viaduct. No workmen or plant and like you Kev I was going at the same speed as everyone else, hundreds of drivers probably as it was during the late afternoon when loads of commuters would be coming home from work. I put a thread up for the Speed Awareness course that I was offered. It was Cheshire police but I did the course at Leyland. It costs you the same or slightly more than the fine if you factor in the travelling required. The fin with points was £100 and the course £90 for the day. Just about everyone in our group on the day had been caught in the same scenario.

PB, Does the course cover those temp speed restrictions, as they appear exceptional. Like all things if there is clear notification that tallys, or explains the reasons its easier to understand why there is a restriction variance

You can read my original post here regarding the course. I said at the time that it was very informative and I thought that the speed awareness lessons should be taught as part of the learning process rather than after the event.

Speed Awareness

The courses are delivered by advanced driving instructors, they have dropped the practical element that used to be part of the course.

I'll add what I said then, it still applies.
"My last offence was 95mph on an empty piece of the Skipton by-pass when I had the Fulvia. Not usual practice, I was just cleaning the cylinders out. I think I was fined £40..... So glad I don't have to worry about these things now....."

The Yeti went into recirculate mode yesterday afternoon, this is a regular 'maintenance, thing to clear the DPF. It works much quicker if you drive the car around 3000rpm, cruise control set at 30mph and 2nd gear kept the revs up and a sensible speed on the road.

This in PE. Remember the fun we had with Boris Johnson's court order for debt? Now we have the truth.
