Quite.... :biggrin2:

Mick was listening to me yesterday I think when I went to Earby. I got a surprise actually because Jessica has got the builders in so she has moved some treasures and ornaments across to her mother's for safety and I was sat in a room with ten engines in it and that isn't all of them! Very strange seeing them all together like that.Susan said she had a carpet fitter in earlier this week and he was most impressed. :biggrin2:

Electric off slightly later than advised 10.15am and back on earlier at 1.30pm. I have been round and reset all the clocks that don't do it for themselves.

The fact that it's Thursday! These weeks fly past!
Tomorrow Susan and I go to Skipton for an adventure. Following Wendy's recommendation we have booked a slot at Skipton Museum. :biggrin2:

They're replacing the lamp posts behind my house today, there will be chaos as there are vans, wagons and people all over Skipton Old Road. The 'racetrack' will be hindered.

Update at 10:20, hinder was an understatement, the road is shut...

All done before lunch, old concrete lampposts out and shiny new metal LED posts in.

We had the concrete post outside our house replaced by a metal one a couple of Months ago (only metal one on our street now). We had a knock on the door by a man from the Council and he showed us that there was a crack all the way round the concrete post about 4 feet up..! He said that the next strong wind would probably have blown it over. It was removed the same day and the new one put up within a week. Not much light from the LEDs though (very downwards directional) and I think I preferred the old sodium lights from years ago.

I don't think any of these were damaged, just old. They've replaced all of them on Skipton Old Road now.
Personally the directional LED will be quite nice, it's only about 60ft from the back of my house and the old sodium lamp was a bit overpowering.

Noticeable that when more light was needed on the pedestrian crossing near Gott's Garage they took the LED out and put a sodium unit in instead.
The fact that they promise Susan and me 24C for our trip to Skipton. :biggrin2: (Tension mounts....)

I knew that the flagpole had returned to the top flat on Co-operative Street next to the car park had reinstated the flagpole that failed but shorter. It had the St George flag for the football but now has the anarchist flag. Slightly disturbing!

Lots of empty shelves in the Co-op. Could it be caused by drivers having to stay at home and isolate?

We have a street lamp directly outside our bedroom window. Replacing the sodium with the LED down lighter made a massive difference. Of course they are not only cheaper to run so have a better carbon footprint they are much better for the light pollution problem as well.

How hot it was! And even hotter today. Susan and I had a good trip to Skipton but unfortunately the Museum was closed due to staff isolating because of Covid. That will have to happen another day. Interesting to walk up Skipton High Street, haven't done that for a long time. What struck me was that the market stalls were almost all selling clothes.....

The fact that the BBC has had to change its early morning schedule on World Service because of the number of staff who had been pinged by track and trace and are off work isolating. This is getting serious.....

Indeed and they are talking of "dumbing down" the NHS app so it is less sensitive. The app is doing what it is supposed to and reporting the massive rise of the variant. Why wont Bozo just admit he has cocked up yet again?

As reported earlier the majority of other countries that did the same as Boris is planning had to do complete U turns and many are in worse lock down situations than they had before.

I bet Boris won't have the bottle to put the brakes on the already announced deal tomorrow and we will have to have the excess deaths yet again to prove the point. It's a bloody mess for sure.

I also noted he hasn't given us any gags, or links to interesting Youtube clips recently.

That's like the tinpot countries that we criticise for failing to report infections and deaths properly.

In the past our elected representatives would have been shouting about lacking confidence in the government and demanding a change. They seemed to have given up representing us when they failed to explain what a shambles Brexit would be. How are we going to get a better government?

Later what grabbed me is the almost universal condemnation of Johnson's Freedom Day by experts and in particular, public health officials. I heard some young clubbers who were out last night and it was chilling to hear young people telling us that the pandemic was over and we had to stop being afraid of it.
All I can say is that I am ignoring Johnson's freedom, I shall be taking exactly the same precautions I exercised before.

We used to think the danger from robots was that they'd be too intelligent and take over the world but now we find they're more likely to destroy each other - not much future for driverless cars if they rush about colliding with each other. Remember the dodgem cars?

[Have a look at the video at the end of the article to see the results of the previous (2019) Ocado robot fire - quite spectacular.]
