Paulette, be careful, we all tend to start to do more when we retire than when we were working. I retired three times.
The monolith. This struck me as the most likely suggestion: "Andy Merritt, a British artist who creates outdoor public sculptures as part of the duo, Something and Son, said that when he saw stories about the Utah monolith, he thought it was "either an artist, or a rich person who's got fantasies around 2001: A Space Odyssey"."

Gosh, it's all happening - Happy Birthday Ian and Congratulations Paulette! :drinks2:

Talking of greetings...earlier this week Mrs Tiz sent an early Christmas card by air mail to her relatives in Canada. She printed the address clearly in large letters on the envelope, stuck on one of our little address labels on the back, and took it to the Post Office. They put the usual Airmail sticker on and the required £2.50 stamp and put it in their post sack. Yesterday we found it in our post behind the front door! :surprised: There's what appears to be a roughly drawn arrow on the back pointing at our little label. Otherwise, nothing else to show why it's been sent back to us. The stamp is the correct amount for airmail to Canada.

Thanks, Sally got me a map with all the silly place names that are some folks addresses, Slap Bottom and Happy Bottom are featured but some are too risqué to be mentioned on here. :biggrin2: On the practical side of things I now have a skillet. :extrawink:

I wonder if Cath and Maz are suffering from similar high temperatures?
`Sydney records hottest November night on record' LINK
`Sydney has recorded its hottest November night on record, with daytime temperatures of 40C on Sunday. The Australian city recorded a minimum overnight temperature of 25.4C. The heat has prompted the New South Wales (NSW) Fire Service to issue a total fire ban for most of the eastern and north-eastern parts of the state. Firefighters are battling dozens of wildfires in the state. Temperatures over the weekend have also soared in other parts of the country. These included South Australia and Victoria. Evening temperatures at Sydney Airport have now dropped to 25C at 17:30 (06:30 GMT), local reports said. Hotter weather is expected again from Tuesday, despite the official start of summer still being a few days away..'.

Our weather temps and conditions normally travel west to east. Here in Adelaide we had 40C and 36C on Friday and Saturday. It’s now travelled to the east coast.
Today in Adelaide we only had 22C . 👌
Tuesday we are creeping up to 33C.

We've been getting surprisingly warm weather were I live, about 9 degrees C today, but it's going to get a bit colder. I wish we could swap our coolness for some of your heat!

My morning post seems to have missed arriving. Happy Birthday Ian. If Sally has given you a skillet that sounds like a call for drop scones. My mother used to make them and we stood next to her at the cooker armed with lemon juice and Golden Syrup and we could eat them as fast as she cooked them!
I'm quite happy with the weather as it is. It could be a lot worse than this as December comes in.

Aye, it's a CI jobby I did my gammon on it last night. Thanks for the birthday wishes, glad to have got here. It was slightly doubtful for a while a couple of years ago but onwards and upwards now, literally. I have been wearing my new boots around the house for a couple of days and they are feeling good, will hit the hill next week I reckon. :extrawink:

Jst about to pull the laptop in bits again to see what is wrong with the charging / power port.

Good luck with the taking from to pieces as the kids used to call dismantling!
It was going dark at 15:00 yesterday and looks as though it could do the same today. It's what my mother used to call 'A Nowt Day'.

One of the new LED units in the Pioneer Car Park has failed already. It's the one closest to the store on the standard at the end of Co-operative Street. I can't find the form for reporting on the Pendle Borough site even though they are responsible for the lamps. All I could do was alert David Whipp. If anyone can point me to a form that works I shall use it but be aware that many that are advertised are no longer functioning even though they are on the web.

David Whipp is probably the easiest route to take...

That's what I thought Kev. I'm afraid that the route via Pendle Borough web site eluded me. In addition I know that some of the routes via LCC are broken links but I can't remember which ones.

There isn't a street lighting link on Pendle's website. Might be worth asking David Whipp what route he uses to report those that Pendle are responsible for.

The only way I have found to do it is to get hold of the operator at the central phone number and persuade her to put me through to the lady in charge of street lamps. If David has that number on speed dial he'll be able to do it easier.

That isn't hot! I bet it's classed as a cool night in Queensland. The Sydney inhabitants must be a bunch of cissies! :biggrin2:

Word on the street is the crew, flagging the town square, are isolating so the work has ground to a temporary halt.

Just checked the price for a giggle. £3 for the four pack and £2 for the two pack.
You would have to have rocks in your head to consider buying them! ( what is WRONG with people?)
