Not much for dinner tonight (maybe a tomato sandwich). Too hot to eat.

Perhaps this meal may be more appealing to those in colder climes...but unfortunately we could barely touch it due to the extreme heat. Homemade Hamburgers, Air fried chips and Sour Cream.

Should have held off about a half an hour serving dinner. The sea breeze has now come through...doors and windows are open and it is absolutely wonderful.
It has gone from 41C to 27C....in half an hour.

Me too...ate less than half...but that is it for the night ( and all I have eaten since two Cruskits for breakfast about 12 hours ago). In such extreme heat, one only eats before sunrise and nothing but glass after glass of water during the heat of the day. There is no such thing as lunch.

I cut Chicken Breast into thin strips and crumbed, then fried.
Made a Low Sugar Sweet and Sour Sauce.
Cooked Rice, fresh veg, and put it in the oven under foil ( Red Onion, Red Capsicum, Carrot, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Sweet Corn).
Added some Chilli and Chinese Five Spice)
Served it up and drizzled it in my Low Sugar Sauce.

Come on guys...you are in lockdown! It is Winter! You all need to eat! Is no one getting off their bums to cook delicious meals?
If I were in lockdown, I would declare one night a week for “candle-light dinner”. Turn that damn TV off, cook something really decent and put the music on low.

I bulk cook when I'm off shift, it's potted up and frozen for meals when I'm on shift. Takeaway (delivered) curry usually features at least once a week. I have been out to pick up fish from Bannys in Colne a few times.

Please Miss - I am  . . .

A combination of an inbuilt reluctance to throw any food at all away, and an opportunity to saitisfy the curiosity of a fellow member results in this. All found in the fridge this morning and can best be described as 'Spicy sausage with Kala Chana on a bed of spaghetti'.

Don't tell me you know what kala chana is, because even I'd never heard of it till I saw it in tins at Morrisons. I think it's related to what they call in Preston 'parched peas' and elswhere in Lancashire 'black peas'- though perhaps we should now call them 'peas of color' .

Anyway - don't knock it till you've tried it - it was actually very good - except all the sausage had gone in the previous two iterations of the meal. So it qualifies as vegetarian now.

PS looks like Wendyf might approve - Kala chana and diabetes

That looks really nice! :good:

I often go through periods where I simply hate cooking and I am sure others do too. I literally have to drag myself into the kitchen and get on with it. I’m always looking for inspiration. The topic is “What did we have for tea?”, is it not??! An entire topic devoted to that one specific interest. So I don’t think photos of food are out of place here Panbiker.

I never said they were, just that I don't need to tell everyone what we had for tea everyday. I was making the point that we cook the majority of our meals but like Kev and particularly through the pandemic we have made a point of supporting some of our local restaurants who can only do takeways now due to lockdown. Use them or lose them.

Judging by our Summer Holiday crowds, I can’t imagine any of our eateries are suffering. Schools went back today, so the town is getting back to normal population and the old dears are once again trundling around on their mobility scooters. Glad to see the back of the crowds. I expect they are some people’s bread and butter however.

(Just because I can, Panbiker) ...homemade Spicy Beef Noodles with Naan bread...
(And I need to tell you, it was very welcome after a strenuous day of gardening!) I don’t need to count carbs when I come in whipped from hard gardening.

Burger, eggs and baked beans for breakfast. I had a pork pie and veggies for tea.
I've grilled some sausage and roasted a leg of mutton to keep the protein intake up! We will not perish from want of warming winter food!
