WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I made Egg Fried Rice with Prawns. Quick, easy and very tasty.
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I must confess I am in The Hare and Hounds for curry night

I had the last of the veggies for breakfast. I cooked veggies and casseroled braising steak with onions and tomatoes and had that and veggies for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Casseroled steak and veggies for breakfast, I fried potato scallops to add to the casserole, they absorb the gravy better than anything else. I had the casserole with veggies again for tea. Lovely how the flavour improves when you cook meat and then hold it in the fridge. Same principle as hanging beef.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Casseroled beef and veggies for breakfast and tea. I cheated at dinnertime and got a small portion of chips to eat on bookie watch. There is something quite lovely about chips with salt and vinegar eaten in the open air. Of course they were even better when they were in newspaper....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I had a three egg omelette for breakfast, gammon and chips for lunch at Granny's Kitchen at Colne Market and Tasty Lancashire cheese bought at the market with oat cakes for tea.
(Fred Lawson, the cheesemaker at West Marton, who judged cheeses at major shows once told me that 'tasty Lancashire' was actually creamy Lancashire which had gone slightly wrong in the making and had a higher acidity. Whatever, it was very nice!)

The last of the casserole and veggies for breakfast. I cooked Lamb's Liver, bacon and Onions in a thick gravy and had that with veggies for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Pork pie and sprouts for breakfast, tea was the last of the Liver Bacon and onions with veggies I cooked yesterday. I casseroled a pound of stewing steak as well to see me into the week.....
(Did you hear the one about the woman who bought the sheep's head and said "Please leave the eyes in, it's to see us through the week....")

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Here's a photo of a butchers display in the Grainger market in Newcastle. Taken only in August - I doubt you'd see the like anywhere else.
I've mentioned it before as the place where I once saw rooks for sale - a long time ago. Good to see the real meat tradition continues.
Warning - Not suitable for vegetarians.

Looks good David. My butcher hasn't room to display trotters and heads but he sells them.
Yesterday I Had the steak and onion casserole X two with veggies for breakfast and tea. I cheated and had one of Bab's bacon butties whilst on bookie watch.

That looks edible Mick. Nice to see you've cracked posting pictures!
I had steak and onions casserole X two with veggies. I extended the veggies with a boiling of sprouts, my favourite fruit!

Tapas tea tonight, P's sister and brother-in-law are coming to help eat it. There may be a couple of bottles of Malbec to wash it down

We made a big pan of Potato, Leek and Bacon Soup that has lasted us 2 days.
Plus crusty Italian bread for dunking in it.
I like two dinner dinners

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Three eggs for breakfast. I cooked Lamb's liver, bacon and onion and had a pork pie for tea with some of the gravy off that and sprouts. (The sprouts are lovely this year.)
The most noticeable thing about my cooking yesterday wasn't the successful casserole but the pan of sprouts I put on and forgot. They boiled dry and burned and I had to cool the pan slowly and aftyer I had cleaned it, belt the pan on the bum because it was domed.... Then out to the Co-op and get some more sprouts, I didn't burn that lot.....

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Try one of these. Loud alarm
Needs an AAA battery, but it's simple to set, and loud enough even for one with failing memory and hearing to use. I've just got one, and it's great.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sorry - works for me. There are lots on ebay. Make sure it has an AAA battery and is 'loud' .

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I don't regard burning one boiling of sprouts as being a sign of mental decline needing alarms to protect me. I just got too interested in what I was doing for God's sake!
(I've just successfully cooked this weeks veggies and not burned a thing!)
