Same for me David, I often use sausages and bacon in the Wok. Frozen mixed veg works well and sliced frozen peppers, we normally have both in the freezer but were short of pepper yesterday, frozen or au natural. We have double Woks in our house one for my meaty adventures and a veggie one for Sally she often uses the cubed soya stuff which tastes like cardboard to me but hey ho each to their own. Shove enough spices in and it can come out quite decent.Tripps wrote: ↑22 Jul 2021, 10:58Spooky ! - so did I. In fact it has become a regular menu item over the last couple of years, with my trusty Wok, a dash of Linghams Chilli sauce, some finely chopped root ginger. and soya sauce. You can get quite adventurous, and I haven't had any failures yet. Sometimes I add a shake of curry powder and some cardamon pods. I've used chopped cooked sausage, and even bacon as the meat element, and a handful of shredded cabbage and cooked (noodles) spaghetti does no harm.

Ian - it's really nice to find a subject in which we are in total agreement.
It's been a long time coming, but is most welcome.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I was extremely boring as usual. Rib steak and veggies X two for breakfast and tea.
Did my veggie shopping.... I got some pickled herring but it's in a larger pot and is now a fiver. It will be cheaper actually because I can split it in two and so it will be £2.50 per helping rather than £3.50 for the Silver Tide herring. That's right, Pork Pie and herring is on my mind.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I cooked veggies. Had sausage and veggies for breakfast and straight veggies for tea. There's something very clean about cabbage, celery and carrots!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I have some Spanish sausages from Nathan and half a carton of Passata. I can make something tasty I reckon.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I'm cooking a chilli with some spicy butternut squash wedges (a tasty low carb option).

Pork pie and veggies for breakfast and spicy wings and veggies for tea. They were particularly good and will be better today.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I cooked the spiced Spanish sausage in the oven while I sweated off a chopped onion in the frying pan and bubbled up some fussili. Onion cooked I brought it all together with the sliced sausage. I took a portion and popped it back in the oven with a bit of cheese on top. Very tasty, Nathan's Spanish sausage I think are sun dried tomato and chilli. I have kept a portion back for my lunch and put two in the freezer for later retrieval.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I omitted to mention the Passata from my pasta dish the other day. It was the last carton, must put it on the shopping list for replacement.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Breakfast yesterday was two eggs, a blood pudding and baked beans. I cooked a rib steak yesterday and had part of it and its lovely gravy with veggies for tea last night.

Ham, egg and home made oven chips with spuds from the garden. Ground to plate in less than an hour, tasty.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Just as it should be. I had sausage egg and beans for breakfast and tea because the cupboard was bare until my meat order arrived at 17:00.

Very light Breakfast of a pork pie and peas, Lunch at the Castle Inn was liver and onions, very good! Then tea was Kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes (Skipton Market), cheese, pickled herring and a pork pie.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Picking up some part baked sourdough baguettes from Aldi for a sausage sandwich for lunch. It would have been P's dad's birthday today and we have to have the smell of fresh bread in the house (he was a baker).
Not sure on tea yet, still looking for inspiration.

Stanley's talk of olives with other 'bits and pieces' prompted a selection of bits and pieces here for tea

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Yesterday was Pork Pie, herring and Greek goodies twice, the only difference at teatime was no olives but cabbage and peas as I have been cooking during the day for the rest of the week.
