Beef Stew and veggies extended with more sprouts X two yesterday. The sprouts are lovely, the effort that has gone into breeding new strains has certainly paid of. I can eat them like sweets!

It will be baked potato for me with cheese to go with the beef chilli that has been maturing in the slow cooker all day. I used one of Sally's home grown chilli's and it tastes about bob on with a nice bit of after burn.

Eggs for breakfast. I cooked a prime rib steak and some veggies during the day and reinforced the two servings I made of the last of the veggies with some of that and some sprouts and had one helping for tea. The steak was like butter and the red wine I de-glazed the pan with came through nicely.

The last of the steak casserole and veggies extended with a can of peas to serve for breakfast and tea. I have cooked oxtail and minced mutton as a curry. Must de-bone that now, the fat has been separating in the fridge overnight.

Minced beef, onions, garlic, bell peppers, courgette, mushrooms, runner beans and a tin of chopped toms in the big frying pan with olive oil, black pepper, mixed herbs and a couple of oxo cubes. I will stir in a small jar of red pesto and finely grate some parmesan on top just before serving, that's today's tea sorted.

We went out for tea last night down to the Craven Heifer. Met up with one circle of friends as we have done for well over 30 years just before Christmas. Not happened in the previous two years though. The pub is well organised and everyone is masked until sat down then it's table service for drinks and food.

Sally, and I are nearly the youngest of our group apart from Sylvia. Linda and Neil, Jane and Terry, Alan and Roger made up our table of nine. All are double jabbed and boosted and the majority of the group including ourselves did LFT's before attending.

I had blade of beef with honey roasted carrots and parsnips, mashed potato topped with green beans, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and all topped off with red wine gravy. Sally had a sea bass platter.

It was a very nice night, no hugging as in previous years but good to catch up with old friends.

Managed to get dinner number 3 from the Corned Beef Hash Stew by making some oven baked potato scallops as a side.

Tonight I'm making Chicken Noodle Soup.

Mick I love squeezing an extra meal out of the pot by extending with something cheap like peas. Always feels like a very economical (cheap!) meal.
