Thanks to you all. Talked to Jess this morning. She's fine, enjoying a rest and being pampered! Mo's mum and Dad are heading in from Africa.
I am fine, taking short strides and resting.....

Indeed Liz.... They are back at home, Jess is recovering well and Kahara is feeding nicely. What an exciting time for Jess and Mo. Nothing quite like the first child....
BTW. I told a lady friend of mine and she said both of her babies were over nine and a half pounds and she is only a small lady...... Heroism I call it!

There is a quick way in Windows (and Mac OS) to lessen the chances of this happening. You can set CAPS LOCK, NUM LOCK or SCROLL LOCK to produce a tone when you press the respective key. So whenever you hit one of those keys you'll hear a bleep tone.

Go into Windows Control Panel/Ease of Access/Change how your keyboard works/Make the keyboard easier to use/Check the box: Turn on toggle keys

Click on apply and that's it.

I'm sure there will be something similar in Linux/Ubuntu.

There will be such extensions available for Linux but their security won't be guaranteed. I'd recommend Stanley to simply look at his screen more often while typing. :extrawink:

This isn't an extension, it is built into the Windows 10 operating system. Yes, you can get extensions which allow you to do things like highlight and reverse the upper/lower case.

When you log in to Ubuntu Linux and start keying in your password it flashes up a warning if you have caps lock set to on so I'd have thought it should be easy for developers to make it work during normal use of the software. I guess developers never make the mistake of leaving caps lock switched on so they don't expect anyone else to need the warning! :extrawink:

That's something I have always liked about Linux and Ubuntu. The polite way they set you right, rather like a discreet butler at your shoulder coughing to get your attention and respectfully informing you of some circumstance. A complete and refreshing change from the tone of Widows which has warnings full of exclamation marks and words like 'you have just performed an illegal operation!" So uncouth......

Overheard at a family gathering yesterday.

"Do you have any pets?"
"Yes - tarantulas"
"Oh - how many?"

"Twenty eight"

You obviously haven't used Windows in any shape or form in a while. Windows 10 beavers downloads updates in the background and then respectfully asks you to restart your machine or set a more preferable time to apply the upgrade. Long time since i have ever seen an exclamation mark in Windows.
