I have always thought there are two classes of eccentric people, those who are naturally eccentric but don't know it and those who try to be eccentric just to be different. I much prefer the first one. Wearing purple to be seen as odd is in class 2.

I agree with you Cathy. I know exactly what Jenny was going on about. That was why I had my ear pierced and considered a tattoo. Come to think I go for brightly coloured clothes as well (but not purple). A natural consequence of age is that you gradually become invisible. The poem is a protest against this. (Do not go gently.....)

My sister died in the early hours of this morning, just had a message from my niece. Not unexpected as she was in hospital and not responding to medication, she was 75.

Sounds like a release Ian but still the wrong sort of news. Very sorry to hear it and I know you will cope well. Sooner 2019 finishes and the better for you! You've had your share of it and more.

Jennifer has requested no funeral and a simple cremation from information received from my niece. It will be followed at some point by a scattering of ashes sometime in the New Year. Undertaker is calling on Julie today so I should know more later or tomorrow.

You are right about a release and that is how I view it as well. Dementia took my sister over three years ago now and she was comfortable and well cared for which I take comfort from. It's a cruel disease and one she is better off out of. She will join everyone else I have known and loved and carry on in my thoughts although no longer with us.

News from Susan, she is with Jess at home (They are near the maternity unit). She tells me Jess is OK it's just that the labour is very slow to develop. She is definitely classed as being in labour. We are on the home straight but no answers yet!

I don't know...I can't say...I'm sure all births are painful. It is something one never forgets anyway...

We have four daughters and i was away working so missed all the births, the third one was born at home, my wife went into labour at 2-30pm, my mother rang the midwife and walked to the school to collect the other two children, arrived back at 3-15pm to find she had another grandchild 7lbs 12 oz.well done my little 4ft, 11 in wife, i assume she would be classed has a lucky mother never having long birth times

Phew...a legend in my books!
I only had one child ( overdue and weighing a massive 6lb 4 oz) but I struggled, I can tell you). I take my hat off to women who can just get the job done!
They sat me on an X-ray plate just before the birth and said "yes it can be done". Yes...well...they weren't considering any wriggle room for comfort!!!!!
Try parking your expensive new car in a dimly lit carpark with less than half inch each side!
